We briefly mentioned Starfield when we recapped the Summer Game Fest, so let’s go into a bit more detail this time.
Starfield is the latest project that is being developed by Bethesda Studios. Famous for their previous work on the Elder Scrolls series, particularly, the millions of editions that Skyrim received over the years.
Enough about Skyrim however, let’s talk about Starfield. Starfield combines all the lessons learned by Bethesda over the years and compiles them into one mega-project. In Starfield you can be the character of your dreams in a galaxy that’s full of opportunities.
You can explore, discover, build, destroy, conspire, and do practically anything that your heart desires. This is the main reason why the game has received so much hype over the years, so, to say that it has big shoes to fill would be an understatement.
Why is it Taking so Long for Starfield to Come Out?
Starfield has been in development for almost a decade at this point. It began development after Fallout 4 was released back in 2014, and was in a playable state by the time E3 2018 came around. Things seemed promising back then. There was even talk about the game releasing on November 11th, 2022, but we know how that went.
Nothing is ever smooth though, especially when it comes to game development. The ensuing Covic pandemic that came in 2019 really threw a wrench in the development process. So, as a result, the game got delayed for a later date.
Finally, at the Summer Game Fest in 2023, we got a glimpse of what the developers have been working on for all that time. And, honestly, from what was shown, the wait was more than worth it.
The game looked completely different from anything we’d seen before, and I mean that in a good sense. Bethesda is notorious for releasing buddy games. So much so that over the years fans have taken to calling the bugs “features”. But, if Xbox Game Studios’ head Matt Booty is anything to go off, Starfield should be the least buggy Bethesda game ever.
