Summer Game Fest 2023

Summer Game Fest 2023 really came out of nowhere this year. Everyone was expecting the grand return of E3, however, what we got in the end was something a wee bit different.

Different does not mean bad, however, as the Summer Game Fest showed us this year. The event went off without a hitch, and we got to see a load of the cool upcoming games scheduled for release later this year, as well as the games scheduled for 2024.

Do you hate playing alone? Most people do. If that’s the case, then you should definitely check out the Z League app. Its LFG feature will help you find a gaming buddy in no time

Starfield – Scheduled for Release on the 6th of September

Starfield was probably the biggest showcase this year. It’s a game that fans of Bethesda have been waiting for, for years – literally!

Talk about Starfield has been circulating the net since its announcement in 2018, and we finally got to see a glimpse of it in 2023. And oh boy, is it wondrous!

During the showcase, Bethesda showed us every little detail about the game, and I mean every, little, detail! How ground combat works, how ship customization and combat works, how exploration and building works, and a lot more to boot.

Safe to say, this has gotten fans riled up. A funny interaction that occurred during the showcase was when Xbox Game Studios’ head, Matt Booty, remarked how: “If the game released today, it would be the least buggy Bethesda game ever.”. A bold statement for sure, let’s hope it doesn’t return to bite him in the behind on the 6th of September.

Mortal Kombat 1 – Scheduled for Release on the 19th of September

Mortal Kombat is a series that needs no introduction. The Mortal Kombat series has been going strong for the better part of 3 decades by this point, and it isn’t showing any signs of stopping any time soon.

However, if you don’t remember the events of Mortal Kombat 11, here’s a little reminder. The universe kind of “ended” with 11. Mortal Kombat 1 is technically a soft reboot of the franchise, hence the name of the game.

Reboot or not, it doesn’t matter, as Mortal Kombat 1 is looking to be one of the best in the series so far. Players who got to experience the game claim that it feels better than ever before, and, it has a slew of new mechanics that keep it fresh.

All in all, 2023 is shaping up to be the year of fighting games, as all the major names within the genre have an entry this year.

Avowed – Scheduled for Release Sometime in 2024

Place your bets, folks! What do you reckon will come first, the Elder Scrolls VI or Avowed?

Have you ever wondered what Skyrim would look like if it were made by Obsidian? Well, wonder no further, as Avowed is just that (kind of).

Truth be told, the similarities between the two are quite striking. However, in the words of Obsidian themselves. Whereas Skyrim focused on breadth, Avowed focuses on depth.

That being said, Skyrim is by no means lacking depth, that’s for damn sure. However, 2011 was a different time. The technology game devs have nowadays far surpasses anything they could have imagined a decade ago, so, naturally, games nowadays should have more depth.

Regardless. Avowed is a game that you should definitely keep your eyes on. If for nothing else, then to scratch that Skyrim itch until ES6 comes out.

Space Marine 2 – Scheduled for Release Sometime in 2023

Space Marine 1 is one of, if not, the most beloved Warhammer video-game of all time. Fans had been begging Sabre Interactive to make a sequel for years. So, when the announcement finally came in 2021, safe to say, people got ecstatic! So. Finally! In 2023, we’ll get a chance to continue Captain Titus’ story. This time, against a threat that’s even more devastating than the Orks of the 1st game – a Tyranid hive fleet.
