  • Viper can act as a secondary Sentinel.
  • Viper works best on larger maps or as a secondary Controller.

Viper can be one of the best Controllers in Valorant if you can use her correctly. Her skill can oppress the enemy team and force them into huge disadvantages.

Continue reading our Valorant Viper guide to help you get a better understanding of how to play her properly.

Poison Cloud and Snake Bite Make for a Deadly Spike Defuse Delay Combo

Viper is one of the only Controller agents who have the utility to delay spike defuses. She can rival the delaying power of agents like Sova or Killjoy, forcing enemies to push you and take you down before they can defuse the Spike.

Learning a lineup or two for your Snake Bite is a common tactic that most Valorant Viper players use to delay defuses. However, you can also leave your Poison Cloud right on top of the Spike after planting.

You can then activate Poison Cloud after hearing a tap to slowly decay your enemy’s health before throwing a lineup. This basically ensures that they either get off the Spike or die trying.

Use Poison Cloud to Get More Space and Push Aggressively

Viper’s Poison Cloud is one of her most misused abilities. Oftentimes, players simply throw it near the entrance of the site and call it a day. However, you should actually be throwing it deeper toward the enemies. This allows you to take more space, slowly creep through your smoke, and maybe get a free kill or two. If there are no enemies, then you can simply take your gas emitter and lurk for your team.

Make Sure Toxic Screens Covers as Many Angles as Possible

You should always be paying attention to your minimap whenever you’re deploying your Toxic Screens. By watching the minimap, you can see exactly where and how long your Toxic Screen will go.

This allows you to aim properly, find the right height and angle, and cover the most angles possible. Remember, Viper isn’t like most Controllers. Once you deploy her wall, that’s it. You can’t adjust it, so try your best to always cover multiple angles whenever you’re using your Toxic Screen.

Play Around With Your Smoke and Screen Timings to Catch Enemies Off-Guard

Viper is the only Controller in the game that can turn on or turn off her smokes at will. This puts her in a very unique position and allows her to manipulate angles and create timings that enemies won’t expect.

Turning off your smokes or wall is an excellent way to get a free and quick kill without much effort. Enemies won’t expect you to hide behind your wall. And since you’re the one in control, you’ll have the upper hand and know exactly when to peek.

The Best Ways to Effectively Use Viper When Attacking

  • Use your wall to deny information and take a huge chunk of space on the site.
  • Always be vocal about your remaining fuel, and let your team know when you’re about to run out.
  • You can lurk if you’ve already deployed your wall.
  • Play defensively if you have lineups in place.
  • Use your Viper’s Pit to control smaller sites and force enemies back.

The Best Ways to Effectively Use Viper When Defending

  • Use your wall to deny pushes.
  • Throw Snake Bites near your wall or smoke so enemies can’t crawl their way in.
  • Use Viper’s Pit to single-handedly defend a site.
  • Use Viper’s Pit for quick and easy retakes.
  • Throw your Poison Cloud deep into entrances to take more control and for easier lurks.
