Valorant Killjoy: Key Takeaways

  • Valorant Killjoy skills: Alarmbot, Nanoswarm, Turret, Lockdown.
  • Your goal on Attackers as Killjoy: Watch flanks, delay defuses, and make it hard for enemies to retake.
  • Your goal as Defenders on Killjoy: Lockdown a site, use your ult for retakes, and delay pushes with your utilities.
  • Stack your abilities together when defending.

Killjoy is an incredibly strong Sentinel and is one of the most picked agents across all ranks. She may not be a walking highlight reel like Jett, but she’s a strong defensive beast. It can sometimes feel impossible to push through any site she’s holding.

Make Sure Your Turret Always Watches Two Angles at Once

Now, this is a trick that most new Valorant Killjoy players don’t use. Your Turret is a valuable information-gathering tool. It shoots at enemies and alerts you whenever enemies are close.

The head of the Turret moves from left to right and covers a 180-degree cone. You can use this to your advantage by placing it in areas where it can reach two areas at once. A good example is placing it on top of the bricks on A site of Ascent. This allows it to watch A main and A short at the same time.

Use Nanoswarm and Alarmbot Together

Nanoswarm and Alarmbot are two of Killjoy’s best defensive utilities. When used alone, Nanoswarm can easily delay pushes, while an Alarmbot can give you information when an enemy is nearby.

However, their true power lies in stacking them together. You can put your Alarmbot near entrances. You then put your Nanoswarms a little bit behind the Alarmbot. As soon as you hear your Alarmbot pop, activate those Nanoswarms and enjoy the free damage.

Learn at Least a Lineup or Two for Each Map

Now, this can be a tedious tip, but it’s definitely very important if you’re truly serious about becoming a Valorant Killjoy main. Nanoswarms last for four seconds when activated. This makes them a powerful tool to delay spike defuses.

You can always place them right after planting. However, this method can easily be countered if the Defenders check for Nanoswarms first before defusing. But if you have lineups, it makes them incredibly hard to counter. Throwing two Nanoswarms allows you to delay the defuse by up to 8 seconds. This may not sound like much, but it’s a lot when you’re up against the clock.

Change Up Your Setup Every Once in a While

Another common mistake that most new Valorant Killjoy players commit is using the same setup every time. The first couple of times, it’ll be very effective. However, once opponents learn where you put your utilities, they’ll start to adapt and easily take the site from you.

The only way to counter this is by mixing up your setup. You can place your utilities more aggressively, place them a bit deeper, hide them, or simply reposition them. You can also switch to a different site if they start avoiding you.

The Best Ways to Effectively Use Killjoy When Attacking

  • Make sure to always have an Alarmbot or Turret watching flank.
  • Have your Nanoswarm lineups ready to delay defuses.
  • You can use your Turret to bait enemy shots.
  • You can use Lockdown as a great way to help your team enter the site.

The Best Ways to Effectively Use Killjoy When Defending

  • Use your Lockdown for retakes.
  • Make sure nothing gets past your utility without being detected.
  • Play safe, and don’t be afraid to give site when things aren’t going your way.
  • Peek off of your utility.
  • Use your Nanoswarms to force enemies to go a different direction.
