TSM entered the ALGS Split 1 as the favorites and they eventually emerged victorious. The trio comprised of ImperialHal (Philip Dosen), Reps (Jordan Wolfe), and Verhulst (Evan Verhulst) defeated 39 teams to take home top honors and a prize of $300,000 (of the total $1,000,000 prize pool).

While TSM were the favorites for the tournament, they were hotly pursued by NRG, who had a 20 kill win during the final stages of the tournament. TSM sealed the deal with a Valk Ult play from atop Thunder Watch after soaking up game-winning intel from across the map.

ImperialHal sent ripples through the Apex Legends community when he decided to switch from Keyboard & Mouse over to Controller late 2022 to take advantage of Aim Assist. The topic of controllers and their inherent advantage in competitive play also made headlines with a fan having his homemade sign removed by tournament staff.
