Key Takeaways for Smite Slash Guide

  • Slash is a game mode that incorporates elements from all the different game modes
  • Slash has unique jungle camps that can heavily influence the outcome of a match
  • Slash emphasizes the Egyptian and Mayan pantheons

Contrary to popular belief, Smite’s Slash game mode has nothing to do with the Guns’n’Roses guitarist. However, we can use guitarists as an analogy to explain what Slash actually is as a game mode.

Just as guitarists are inspired by those that came before them, the Slash game mode is also inspired by the game modes that came before it, because of that, its design is a combination of elements from the game modes that came before it, all in a single package.

Does Slash manage to capture the best characteristics of the different game modes though? Let’s find out! But, before we do that. You might be interested in the Z League app, it’s the best place to find like-minded gamers to play the games you enjoy.

The Map Layout of Slash

Smite Slash Guide

The design philosophy of Slash is to incorporate elements from the different game modes in Smite, that’s best reflected in how the map itself is designed. The map features two lanes to the side with a jungle sprawling through the middle and a bit to the sides.

Another notable feature of Slash is that it emphasizes the Mayan and Egyptian pantheon, which is the reason why Egyptian and Mayan motifs are spread across the map.

As is the case in some other game modes, the map itself is mirrored. At the bottom, near the towers, you have Mana Regen buff camps. Down the middle of the jungle, there are three camps, the first one is the Juggernaut camp, followed by the Speed Buff camp, followed by the Damage Buff.

On the sides of the map, you have two unique camps. They may be a Speed or Mana Regen buff, or they can be extra Juggernaut camps. There is one more unique camp which is smack dab in the middle of the map – Apophis!

Apophis is Slash’s version of the Fire Giant. Upon killing Apophis you receive a teamwide buff. Another cool feature of Slash is the Juggernaut camps. When you clear a Juggernaut camp, that Juggernaut spawns as a unit on your side. There are no tickets in Slash, however, a giant monster charging at you with a big sharp weapon is a cause for concern regardless of what game mode you’re playing.

What Should the Different Roles Do in Slash?

Thankfully, Slash is a game mode where the Gods’ intended role is actually quite prominent, albeit, not as prominent as in Conquest.

What Should Warriors Do in Slash?

As a Warrior, you’re either going to be playing as a Tank or as a Bruiser. Although, since Slash is a game mode that is faster-paced than Conquest, a Bruiser build might be more viable than a Tank build. If you have a Guardian on your team, then leave the tanking to them while you focus on damage-dealing.

What Should Mages Do in Slash?

As a Mage, you can either go for a Magical Power build or a Support build. Although considering the fact that the Slash map is quite small compared to the Conquest map, you should probably go for a Magical Power build in most cases. Leave the supporting duties to the Guardian.

What Should Guardians Do in Slash?

Guardians sadly have the short stick in Slash. As a Guardian, tanking and supporting duties are delegated to you by default. As such, you want to focus on “beefing up” as soon as possible. Your main goal from the mid of the match onwards should be to engage in team fights and to create favorable circumstances for your team.

What Should Assassins Do in Slash?

Surprisingly, Assassins actually have a place in Slash. The jungle is smaller than what’s available in Conquest, but that just means that, if you’re playing as an Assassin you’re going to have to take a more active role.

As soon as you’ve gotten your initial buffs you should attempt to engage an isolated opponent. Later into the game once you’ve gotten stronger you should be the one that clears Juggernaut camps.

What Should Hunters Do in Slash?

Hunt! It’s as simple as that. The role of the Hunter is the same as in any other game mode. Stay in the back, acquire lots of farm, get the items you need, and then proceed to dominate the enemy team. Simple as that.
