Key Takeaways For Smite Arena Guide

  • Arena is the only game mode that has an oval-shaped map
  • The goal in Arena isn’t to destroy the enemy’s titan but to drain the enemy’s ticket pool
  • There are really only 3 roles in Arena: Damage Dealer, Tank, and Support

The Arena game mode in Smite is unlike any other game mode. Metaphorically at least, after all, you’re still playing Smite. It is however unique in many ways, the different Gods are still present, but the map is unlike any other.

Arena is great if you want to get in there and try out a new God, or if you want to have a quick Smite match but don’t have the time to play a full match of Conquest. In that case, the arena offers you just what you need.

But, before we proceed though, the Z League app might be of interest to you; it’s the best place to find like-minded gamers to play the games you enjoy.

Smite Arena Guide

We briefly mentioned Arena in our article on different game modes in Smite, now it’s time to discuss it in a bit more detail. There is Fortunately not a lot of detail present, as the map design is as simple as it gets.

The map itself is oval-shaped, unusual when you consider the shape of the other maps but quite usual when you consider the shape of most arenas. On the left-hand side, you have your Mana Regen buff, your Damage buff, and your Attack Speed buff. This however is not mirrored, which means that on the right-hand side, the Attack Speed buff is the first buff, and so on.

There’s a noticeable absence of any towers of titans, that’s because the point of Arena isn’t to destroy the enemy titan, but to drain the enemy’s tickets. While on that topic.

  • Killing an enemy God deduces 5 tickets
  • Killing an enemy minion deduces 1 ticket
  • Escorting a minion to the enemy’s portal deduces 1 ticket
  • Killing 10 enemy Gods spawns a Siege Minion on your side. If the Siege Minion reaches the enemy’s portal then 15 tickets are deduced from the enemy’s pool

One thing that’s quite apparent just from seeing this list is that minion kills do a lot more for your team than God kills. Yes, killing a God is worth 5 points compared to the 1 point that a minion gives you, however, killing a single God is much more difficult than killing 5 enemy minions. This is why you should focus on playing the objective more often than naught, instead of greedily going for kills.

What Should the Different Roles Do in Arena?

Arena doesn’t really have any “roles” in the traditional sense. There are however 3 play-styles that are viable in Arena: the Damage Dealer, the Tank, and the Support.

What You Should Do as a Damage Dealer in Arena

For all intents and purposes, “Damage Dealer” is quite a vague category, every God can be a damage dealer. “Damage Dealer” refers to those Gods who are especially good at dishing out a lot of damage, Hunters, Assassins, Mages, and Warriors specifically come to mind.

If you plan on building out your God to deal damage, then make sure to plan out your build ahead of time, there’s nothing that’s more unwise than picking up an item that requires stacks to become good near the end of the match.

Once you have your items, your primary targets should be the enemy minions, not enemy Gods; unless of course, they offer a juicy target that cannot be passed up.

What You Should Do as a Tank in Arena

Get hit in the face… a lot. Really it’s quite simple but that’s what a Tank is best at. Guardians and Warriors make for the best Tanks, as they have a lot of abilities that are good for engaging in fights and dictating their outcomes.

It will however take you a while to get the items you need to become tanky, so be a bit reserved at the beginning of the game, unless it’s absolutely necessary that you be reckless.

What You Should Do as a Support in Arena

As a Support your main goal isn’t that different from any other game mode – you have to help your team win! You do this by keeping your team alive, as you probably won’t be doing that much damage anyways.

A secondary purpose that Supports have in Arena is as minion killers, you might not pose a threat to an enemy God, but you sure as hell are a threatening sight to any minion that comes across you.
