Most recent leaks confirm that Apex Legends is not going to get a new legend for Season 16. Instead, the existing lineup of 23 legends is getting a big rework. Not only on their abilities but in the classes to which these legends belong. At a minimum, every legend is getting a new perk under the reworked class-based arrangement Respawn Entertainment announced on Monday.

Respawn Entertainment also confirms that 7 legends will get a balance rework on their abilities that will be implemented once Season 16 “Revelry” launches.  Those will be the first 5 original Legends: Pathfinder, Bloodhound, Wraith, Mirage, and Lifeline. Plus, two legends that we all know need a nerf: Seer and Valkyrie.

Also, five Remastered Legend Classes will be implemented and each one of them will have different perks: Assault, Skirmisher, Recon, Controller, and Support.

Apex Legend’s main Legend designer, Devan McGuire, said a few things about the new classes during an online preview last week. More about these perks and his comments below:

Assault

Ash, Fuse, Mad Maggie, Bangalore, and Revenant

McGuire claimed that Assault Legends will be “all about combat utility and initiation.” They will now be capable of opening hidden shelves in new Weapon Supply Bins. Smart loot systems will provide them with valuable weapons and upgrades. They will be able to also store an extra stack of Ammo per inventory slot.

Skirmisher

Valkyrie, Wraith, Mirage, Horizon, Octane, Pathfinder

These will be legends with strong mobility options for clever escape tactics. As the lead designer says: “They’re good flankers and they have a hit-and-run style of play.”

Also, now they’ll be able to see Care Packages from a much further distance than before, plus, they’ll see the most valuable item in the drop highlighted, similar to Loba’s passive. They will get information on the revealed valuable item and whether it has been equipped by an enemy team.

Recon

Bloodhound, Crypto, Seer, Vantage

Recon is going to be a big change for a lot of us., Legends like Seer, Crypto or Bloodhound will no longer have access to ring information. Instead, they will have their own beacons that will work just like Crypto’s Map Room scan on Kings Canyon – the enemies will appear on the map for 30 seconds.

Besides this, Mcguire spoke a lot about Seer and Bloodhound. He claimed that we will have significantly fewer scans within the whole game in Season 16. But at the same time, they don’t want to nerf these legends all the way to the point where they’re no longer fun. We will probably see more changes on these legends in the future until they are correctly balanced.

Controller

Caustic, Wattson, Rampart, Catalyst

Now, these defensive legends will be the ones who will have access to the new beacons, they will be around the map in different locations than the previous ones. These devices will show them the next ring location (transferring this ability from Recon to Legends who are designed to rotate early and control the last rings in the game).

Lifeline, Loba, Newcastle, Gibraltar

Those who we know as the original support characters can now access hidden shelves in Supply Bins, which contain high-value survival items, something like Lifeline’s did in Season 15. But most importantly, they will be able now to craft banners of their teammates that have been eliminated (even those whose cards have even expired).
