With Apex Legends Season 16 just around the corner there has been several leaks that perhaps we’ll be getting a new Legend, Ballistic.

If you’ve been following the leak trail for a while, you may recall that the original leaked name designation for the Legend was Caliber. The latest leaks enable us to take a look at the abilities that completely changed from the abilities of Caliber. If you remember, Caliber had the passive ability where he had a weapon sling which means you can hold three weapons. He also had tactical where you could create a sentry turret with the current gun in your hand. So, what do we get from the new Ballistic in terms of abilities?

Passive: Weapon Sling

The passive is really powerful. It will allow you to hold a third weapon, but the catch is that the selected weapon cannot have attachments on it. So you have a third weapon you can use instead of having to reload, which will give you that edge if the fight lasts longer than two mags worth of ammo. With this not being able to take attachments, you can still run a gun that doesn’t really need attachments, like a Kraber or a shotgun. And you wouldn’t have to swap out your original loadout for it, which will be a huge bonus in the late game.

Tactical: Smart Bullet

This shoots a projectile that debuffs the enemy. When this hits an enemy, their weapon will overheat as they shoot, and overheating will cause a reaction and deal damage, burning them similar to a thermite. The longer you hold down the fire button, it will have time to lock onto enemies within a certain range and will be able to hit them with smart bullet at 100% accuracy.

Ultimate: Weapon Enhancer

When activated, it buff’s teammates’ weapons with faster reload, greater movement speed, and infinite ammo. To top it off, it upgrades your sling weapon to gold, which means it will have all the high-tier attachments!

Something else that’s interesting about this leak is that it confirms the red loot bins for the Assault class will be coming to the game and that the Legend select screen is being reworked, moving some Legends into their respective classes. We expect to meet Ballistic on or around February 14, 2023, when Season 16 starts. But we’ll have to wait and see. So, who’s got dibs on Ballistic?
