What are camo challenges?

Camo challenges are optional challenges for each weapon in Modern Warfare 2. Each challenge is based on completing a certain amount of kills is under different circumstances. This could include tasks such as 30 prone kills or 50 kills with a silencer attached.

Once you complete a camo challenge you will unlock a weapon skin that can then be applied to any weapon in the game. These weapon skins have no impact on the performance of the weapon.

Almost every weapon in Modern Warfare 2 will have 4 camo challenges. Completing all 4 camo challenges will unlock additional mastery challenges, with the ultimate goal being to unlock the Orion mastery camo.

Gold
Complete a set amount of Gold challenges in a weapon class to unlock Platinum challenges for that weapon class.

ARs: Complete 8 Gold challenges
Battle Rifles: Complete 4 Gold challenges
SMGs: Complete 8 Gold challenges
LMGs: Complete 6 Gold challenges
Shotguns: Complete 4 Gold challenges
Marksman Rifles: Complete 6 Gold challenges
Sniper Rifles: Complete 4 Gold challenges
Handguns: Complete 5 Gold challenges
Launchers: Complete 4 Gold challenges
Melee Weapons: Complete 2 Gold challenges

Platinum
Complete 51 Platinum challenges to unlock Polyatomic challenges for all weapons.
Most of these challenges include getting longshot kills. Here is a breakdown of the minimum distance needed to register a longshot kill for each weapon class.

ARs: 38 meters
Battle Rifles: 38 meters
SMGs: 30 meters
LMGs: 38 meters
Shotguns: 12.5 meters
Marksman Rifles: 38 meters
Sniper Rifles: 50 meters
Handguns: 20 meters

Polyatomic
Complete 51 Polyatomic challenges to unlock the Orion camo for all weapons.
