Mechabellum Archlight Guide

The Archlight is one of the two early-game support units, the other being the Marksman. Unlike its Marksman counterpart, however, the Archlight specializes in taking out large groups of enemies.

All of this comes at an affordable price tag, yet, herein lies the main problem with the Archlight. It’s affordable and good at taking out large groups of enemies. However, if an enemy so happens as to sneeze on it – down goes the poor old Archlight!

Do you hate playing alone? Most people do. If that’s the case, then you should definitely check out the Z League app. Its LFG feature will help you find a gaming buddy at a moment’s notice.

Key Takeaway for Mechabellum Archlight Guide

  • The Archlight is one of the two early-game support units, the other being the Marksman
  • Archlights are an excellent fire support unit
  • The biggest problem with the Archlight is that it becomes uncompetitive a few rounds into the match

The Archlight and its Upgrades

Mechabellum Archlight Guide

You should use the Archlight primarily as a fire support unit in the first few rounds of the game. However, as the game progresses, you most likely have to acquire more serious firepower if you want to get anything done.

Range Enhancement does as the name implies. It enhances the maximum firing range of your Archlights.

Electromagnetic Shock gives your Archlights the Electromagnetic Debuff. I.e. whenever they hit an enemy, they apply the Electromagnetic debuff. This debuff dramatically slows down the enemy’s movement speed as well as disabling any tech they might have had.

Charged Shot increases your Archlights Attack Damage by 200%. Don’t worry though, it doesn’t actually force your Archlights to charge their shots, nor will it increase the Attack Interval between shots.

Armor Enhancement gives your Archlights a shield that can absorb 60 points of damage. This shield increases with subsequent level-ups.

Anti-Aircraft Ammunition gives your Archlights the ability to attack flying targets. This upgrade is especially effective against Wasp spam.

Elite Marksmen is the final tech upgrade available to the Archlight. This upgrade gives your Archlights a slight increase in their Attack Range and an increase in their Attack Damage. Keep in mind that this bonus stacks with subsequent level-ups.

The Strengths of the Archlight and How You Should Use It

Crawler

As we mentioned in the introduction, the Archlight specializes in taking out Mob units. Its particular snack of choice is the meek Crawler, considering that it’s the only Mob unit that’s melee.

It’s also quite good at taking out Fangs, although, a few models may break through between shots and dent its paint. The Archlight can even challenge Wasps – with the right tech upgrade that is. The only Mob unit it struggles against is the Mustang, and especially against upgraded Mustangs.

Another strength of the Archlight is its affordable cost. This means that you’ll be able to quite comfortably purchase a few in the beginning rounds of the match. However…

The Weaknesses of the Archlight and What to Avoid

Marksman

On the flip side, you probably won’t get much use out of the Archlight past the first few rounds of the match. Even worse, its greatest counter is the other early-game support unit – The Marksman.

This puts the Archlight in a precarious position. Sure, it’s a great unit to stop early-game Mob spam, however, as the match progresses you’ll find that they quickly lose their usefulness. What’s worse, even if you upgrade them into the late game, they’ll still be uncompetitive compared to some of the other units.

The absolute worst thing you can do with the Archlight is invest too heavily into it. Sadly, it’s one of those situations where a problem doesn’t fix itself, no matter how much money you throw at it. So, in the end, you’re best off if you just save your resources and get some Fortresses. Not only will they give you better fire support, but you’ll also get more utility from them.
