Mechabellum Fortress Guide

Welcome to our Mechabellum Fortress Guide. The Fortress is only a fortress in name, it’s actually one of the most heavily-armed units in the game.

Mechabellum Fortress Guide

Key Takeaways for Mechabellum Fortress Guide

  • The Fortress is the tankiest unit in Mechabellum
  • You should primarily use your Fortresses in a supporting role, although they can excel in just about anything
  • The Fortress has a few noticeable weaknesses that can easily be amended with the right upgrades. (ex. No anti-air capabilities at the start, a weakness to units like Melting Point, etc…)

The only words that can describe Mechabellum’s Fortress are these – utterly sublime. That’s the only emotion you feel when looking at this thing on the battlefield. Destructive as a force of nature, and yet, designed by man.

Of course, no mecha game would be complete without the designated “Needlessly Giant Robot” in it, now would it? Well, the Fortress is that needlessly giant robot.

The Fortress and its Upgrades

Mechabellum Fortress Guide

Fortresses can face off against any units you put them up against, plus, they have the biggest health pool in the game. This means that they can also withstand whatever the enemy throws at them. And thanks to multiple upgrades available to them, they can also be further specialized to better face the situation at hand.

Barrier is the first tech upgrade available to the Fortress. Barrier creates a large shield around your Fortresses. The shield also covers any surrounding units. It also increases in potency with each level-up.

Range Enhancement does as the name implies, it increases the range of all of your Fortresses.

The Anti-Air Barrage upgrade gives your Fortresses the ability to launch a barrage of anti-air missiles every 10 seconds. These missiles have a range of 180m, which well outranges any potential flying threats.

Fang Summoning turns your Fortresses into a walking Fang factory. Every 28 seconds, a group of 12 Fangs is deployed from your Fortresses. Great for soaking up enemy fire and distracting the enemy while you pound them from afar.

Launcher Overload decreases the attack interval of your Fortresses but at the cost of their maximum range.

Elite Marksman gives your Fortresses increased range and increased damage. The damage also stacks with each subsequent level-up.

Doublesoht makes your Fortresses fire two shells with one attack, but, as a result, their reload time also increases.

Armor Enhancement increases the maximum HP of your Fortresses and gives them a shield that can soak up 60 damage. Each subsequent level-up increases the shield by an additional 60 points.

The Strengths of Fortresses and How You Should Use Them

The Strengths of the Fortress

Fortresses are great at taking out pretty much everything (with the right upgrades of course). Although, they prefer to face off against opponents that aren’t designed to take out Single-units.

The problem with Fortresses is that they’re rather expensive units, you can’t just spam them willy-nilly. This means that you’ll have to carefully decide when and where to place down your Fortresses.

A good idea is to rush the Barrier upgrade and use your Fortresses as a mobile support platform for your other units. Another upgrade that you should consider is the Fang Summoning upgrade. By themselves, the Fangs are pretty useless. That isn’t an issue however as you don’t need them for damage.

You need them for cannon fodder. By sending in the Fangs first, you’ll be bogging down the enemy’s ability to respond to your Fortresses, giving you the upper hand.

The Weaknesses of Fortress and What You Should Avoid

The Weaknesses of the Fortress

Fortresses have 2, maybe 3 direct counters. The most obvious one is Melting Point, which was designed to specifically take out large units like the Fortress. Another one of your counters is the Overlord, especially if you haven’t unlocked the Missile Barrage upgrade yet.

The last counter to Fortress is Marksmen spam, though, these are rather slow firing and may take a while to get your health down to 0.

Funnily enough, other Fortresses can also be your counter. However, when facing off against another Fortress, it really becomes a battle of attrition at that point. As it isn’t who can deal the most damage, who’ll come out on top, but who can withstand the most damage in the end.
