Mechabellum Wasp Guide

Welcome to our Mechabellum Wasp guide. The Wasp light aircraft is quite aptly named. By itself, a single Wasp can’t hurt you, but in a group, they’re absolutely terrifying.

Key Takeaways for Mechabellum Wasp Guide

  • The Wasp has the most utility out of the mob units
  • Use your Wasps to take out Squad units, as they don’t have an appropriate response to them
  • Mustangs and Overlords are the only 2 units that pose a serious concern for your Wasps

The Wasp is one of Mechabellum’s most interesting units. Compared to its other mob brethren, the Wasp has a lot of utility. What’s more, it can remain useful throughout the course of a match, a feat that very few of its brethren can boast of – save the Mustang.

Its name is indicative of how you should use this unit. A single unit of wasps can be dangerous, that’s for sure, but will easily get wiped out by a dedicated opposing force. Instead, spread out multiple units of Wasps, surround and flank your opponents so that they’re unable to respond everywhere at once.

The Wasp and its Upgrades

Mechabellum Wasp Guide

Wasps are fast, numerous, and have a sizable string to them. Their upgrades only make them better.

Energy Shield is the first tech upgrade that the Wasp can get. It gives every one of your Wasps an energy shield that is equal to the unit’s HP. The energy shield will always absorb at least one instance of damage, regardless of the amount of damage.

Range Enhancement does as the name implies, it enhances the attack range of all of your Wasps.

Jump Drive increases the movement speed of all of your Wasps. However, its second feature is what makes it really good. Once you unlock Jump Drive, you can then freely reposition your Wasps at the start of each round.

Ground Specialization increases the damage your Wasps do against ground targets. This does not reduce the damage they do against air targets, so don’t worry about that.

Elite Marksmen is the final upgrade for your Wasps. It increases the attack range and damage of all of your Wasps. The damage increase also stacks per unit level, up to a maximum of 90% at Level 3.

The Strength of Wasps and How You Should Use Them

The Strengths of the Wasp

Speed is the greatest strength of your Wasps, however, their damage is nothing to scoff at either. You should ideally use your Wasps as a quick strike force to get behind your enemy’s defenses and destroy their towers. Once that’s done and the enemy is debuffed, it’s only a matter of sweeping up the stragglers.

Wasps are also notoriously deadly against Squad units. None of the Squad units that are currently in the game have an appropriate response to the Wasps, which makes them an ideal target for your Wasps.

Never attack with only a single unit of Wasps, that’s how you get them killed. It only takes a single unit of Mustangs to counter you, that’s why you should attack with multiple units and from multiple directions. Divide and conquer is the key here, as any unit currently preoccupied with the initial unit of Wasps won’t be able to respond to the second and third units effectively.

The Weakness of the Wasps and What You Should Avoid

The Weaknesses of the Wasp

Wasps really only have 2 units that they should be concerned about, Mustangs and Overlords. A single unit of Mustangs can easily wipe out multiple units of unupgraded Wasps. Even if you upgrade your Wasps to Level 3, Mustangs can still pose a problem.

You should ideally take out any Mustangs giving you a headache with another unit, with the Wasp only serving a supporting role.

Overlords are a completely different story entirely. Sure, they may have a slow attack rate, but their attack deal a lot of AoE damage that will almost instantly wipe out any Wasps you send their way.

You could swarm them, but here’s the problem. The moment the Overlords unlock their Mothership upgrade, then that whole tactic becomes useless, as the 4 Wasps that it spawns will end up eating most of your damage, while the Overlord comfortably sits at the back and destroys your units one by one.
