When is Payday 3 coming out

Hey there heister, you probably want to know when is Payday 3 coming out. Payday 3 is scheduled to come out on the 21st of September, 2023.

From what we’ve seen so far in gameplay trailers, the game is looking good and will most likely meet its release window. So if you were concerned about a potential delay, don’t be, as it’s unlikely to happen.

Solo runs can be fun, but they usually suck. Having a well-coordinated team of robbers is imperative for pulling off the biggest heists. If you want to find such a team, head on over to the Z League app. Its LFG feature can help you find your perfect teammates in no time.

What Kind of Game Is Payday 3 Going to Be?

Payday 3 coming out

There really is no other way to explain the Payday series than “it’s just Payday”. The original Payday was so beloved that it spawned an entire genre of “Heist Shooters” after it. It was so popular in fact that even some big-name companies like DICE tried appropriating the formula, yet, none ever could.

One of the last games that attempted to dethrone Payday was Crime Boss: Rockay City, which was released in June of this year. And we all know how that went. Truly, nothing can provide the thrill of the Payday experience quite like Payday does. So. What makes it so special?

The reason it’s so special is because it nails the core formula down perfectly. You have your unique heisters with their own special abilities. You have a wide selection of weapons and tools, which can drastically alter how you approach a heist. And, most importantly, you have a multitude of heists with changing variables that guarantee a fresh experience each time.

This is the reason why Payday is so beloved and why it’s impossible to dethrone it as the “King of Heist Shooters”. It sticks to the basics and it does those extremely well. Of course, you also need something fresh. So, what does Payday 3 bring to the table?

Other than the incredible step up in visual fidelity, Payday 3 also brings in new stealth mechanics as well as a host of new interactions with NPCs. It’s the classic Payday experience but refined even further than before.

Why Has it Taken so Long For Payday 3 to Come Out?

Payday 3

Payday 3 was announced all the way back in May 2016. That’s 7 years of waiting. And, all things considered, 7 years is quite a lot of time for game development. Why was it announced so early then?

The announcement actually came from Starbreeze Studios, instead of Overkill Software. Starbreeze was attempting to acquire the Payday IP from Overkill at the time, which they did for a whopping 30 million USD. One can only imagine that the announcement came in an attempt to gather traction for the project.

Since then, the project has had its ups and downs. The most notable one being the Covid pandemic, which threw a wrench in the entire gaming industry. Thankfully though, the developers received a stimulus check of 50 million USD in 2021, which basically decided the project’s future. It would be coming out, and soon.

Well. Soon-ish. The announcement for the release date came in June 2023, when it was revealed that the game was scheduled for release on the 21st of September, 2023. If there are no more delays in the meantime, we should be getting our hands on the game in September. While waiting for September, why not try out some of the games being released in August 2023? It’s a lot better than being bored until September, that’s for sure.
