Valve has already introduced a slew of new features to CS2 ever since it started the invite-only beta. It included everything from new maps, bug fixes, and even a new buy menu and loadout system.

The new CS2 buy menu and weapon loadout system are definitely one of the much-needed quality-of-life improvements that Valve has implemented. So for today, we’re going to explain the new CS2 buy menu and weapon loadout system.

Let’s start things off with the new CS2 buy menu. Ever since the release of CS:GO, the buy menu has always been in a radial form. There were six primary categories; Pistols, Heavy, SMGs, Rifles, Gear, and Grenades.

To buy specific items, you had to navigate through these menus, which is a bit of a hassle, especially for new players. You could use the numerical shortcuts to save a bit of time, and it can also lead to accidental presses.

Once you buy an item, you can no longer resell it. So you need to make sure that you are buying the right item, or else you’re going to end up stuck with a weapon you don’t want or need.

The new CS2 buy menu has a more flat design. It presents everything in a nice and orderly manner, and you can easily see all items and weapons that you can buy as soon as you open the buy menu.

This design definitely feels more modern and updated. It’s also way more intuitive than the CS:GO buy menu and can easily be learned by newbies to the game. However, it does seem like this CS2 feature was inspired by Valorant, due to how similar to two designs are.

I personally don’t think that it’s a huge issue. The important thing here is that players can easily adapt to it and enjoy the design. Most CS:GO players play Valorant, and vice versa, making it easier for them as well.

The New Weapon Loadout System

Along with the new CS2 buy menu, Valve also introduced a new weapon loadout system. This system is used to determine what weapons you could bring into the game and what would appear in your buy menu.

CS:GO also had a weapon loadout system. However, it was much simpler than CS2’s new design. It was basically for choosing whether you wanted to bring the M4A4 or the M4A1-S and a couple of pistols here and there. Other than that, it was pretty much untouched by most CS:GO players; some didn’t even know it existed.

The new weapon loadout system allows players to choose whatever weapons they want, as long as it is available to their respective sides. This means that you can bring both the M4A1-S and the M4A4 or the CZ75 and Five-SeveN into battle.

This gives players more versatility and options when it comes to their weapon choices in-game. Players also get to select their favorite or most used weapons first, allowing for faster buy times.

You can bring a total of 15 weapons into the game. The weapons are only divided into three tiers now.

  • Pistols – Five weapon slots. They are composed of all Pistols in the game.
  • Mid-Tier – Five weapon slots. They are composed of the old SMG and Heavy categories.
  • Rifles – Five weapon slots. They are composed of Rifles and Snipers.

I highly suggest watching CS:GO streamers to keep up with the latest CS2 changes and see how these new features work in-game.
