Builds Philosophy: Smite CCR Builds

Smite CCR Builds are often overlooked in favor of more general defensive builds. But, if you’re facing an enemy team with a lot of CC, these kinds of builds are a lifesaver.

Key Takeaways for Smite CCR Builds

  • CCR builds are built out of necessity when the enemy team has a lot of CCs
  • CCR items tend to have powerful passives but on a long cooldown
  • CCR items also usually have, or can be upgraded to have an aura that’s beneficial to your teammates

Smite CCR Builds are something that you have to build out of necessity, rather than something you plan for. Ideally, you wouldn’t have to go for a CCR build, as a general defensive build is more appropriate for most games.

However, Smite matchmaking is less than fair sometimes. Sometimes, you get an enemy team composition that is full of Gods with hard CCs, Chronos for example, and his dreadful 3rd ability which he can easily spam. In those kinds of situations, building CCR is a necessity.

The Best CCR Items

Magi’s Cloak

Magi's Cloak Smite CCR Builds

When it comes to CCR, Magi’s Cloak is the undisputed king of Crown Control Reduction. It can only get better if you upgrade it with a glyph. When it comes to Smite CCR builds, there’s no better option that this.

Magi’s Cloak gives you +30 PP, +30 MP, and +10% Cooldown Reduction. Its passive however is what makes this item so attractive. Every 70 seconds, you’re able to ignore a single hard Crown Control effect.

If you also upgrade this item with a glyph, it will become beneficial for your teammates as well. Especially if you choose the Magi’s Shelter upgrade path.

Spirit Robe

Spirit Robe

For defensive builds, Spirit Robe is something that you get at the middle or towards the end as a cherry on top. For Smite CCR builds, however, it is absolutely indispensable to get it as soon as possible.

Spirit Robe gives you +40 PP, +40 MP, +10% Cooldown Reduction, and +20% CCR. Its passive also grants you +15% Damage Mitigation for 3s whenever you are hit by a hard CC.

The thing that makes Spirit Robe great is the fact that it has a much shorter cooldown than Magi’s. By the time your Magi’s refreshes, you’d have effectively used Spirit Robe’s passive 4 times. Hopefully, you won’t have to though.

Oni Hunter’s Garb

Oni Hunter's Garb

A stunned target is an attractive target for the enemy team. Sometimes, no matter how much CCR you may amass, you still get stunned. For those cases, a plan B is required. The Oni Hunter’s Garb is that plan B.

Oni Hunter’s Garb gives you +200 Health, +60 MP, +30 MP5, and +20% CCR. Its passive also gives you stacks of damage mitigation for each enemy God around you, capping out at 3 stacks.

The Oni Hunter’s Garb is quite inexpensive considering. But is an absolute lifesaver in many situations.

Stone of Gaia

Stone of Gaia

The Stone of Gaia is an excellent alternative to the Mail of Renewal and pairs much better with Smite CCR builds.

Stone of Gaia gives you +400 Health, +25 HP5, and +15 MP5. Its passive also triggers whenever you’re hit by a CC, when triggered, it restores 5% of your maximum Health over 5 seconds. As an added passive, it also regenerates 0.35% of your max HP every second.

Whenever you’re stunned, you have no other option than to sit there and take it. The Stone of Gaia will make the booboo go away quicker.

The Perfect CCR Build in Smite

Smite CCR Builds

This is the perfect CCR Build in Smite:

  1. Magi’s Cloak
  2. Gauntlet of Thebes
  3. Gaia Stone
  4. Hearthward Amulet
  5. Spirit Robe
  6. Oni Hunter’s Garb

Grab the Magi’s as soon as possible, for the reason we’ve already explained. Follow that up with a Gauntlet of Thebes and start amassing those stacks. After that, get a Stone of Gaia, a Hearthward Amulet, a Spirit robe, and an Oni Hunter’s Garb.

The Hearthward Amulter can also be further upgraded with a glyph. Mages tend to have the most CCs, so it’s the perfect anti-Mage item.
