Smite Chronos Guide: the Keeper of Time

Welcome to our Smite Chronos Guide. Chronos, the Keeper of Time; coincidentally, a very hungry guy as well.

Smite’s depiction of Chronos is a bit more flattering than the actual depiction of Chronos in Greek mythology. According to mythology, Chronos was the dreadful titan that presided over time itself. Because he feared having his authority challenged, he would devour any children that he sired… except for Zeus. With all that in mind, Smite’s Chronos looks like quite the civilized titan indeed. What’s more, if there was any devouring to be done, he’d probably use a knife and fork for the job.

Jokes aside though, let’s take a look at what Chronos can do.

Before we begin though, you might be interested in the Z League app; it’s the best place to find like-minded gamers to play your favorite games with.

Key Takeaways for Smite Chronos Guide

  • Chronos is one of the best Mages in the game and definitely one of the best Smite Gods
  • Chronos gets stronger as the game progresses
  • Learning to play Chronos is easy, mastering him is quite the learning curve however

Chronos Abilities

Smite Chronos Guide Abilities

Starting off with his passive, we have Time Lord. Time Lord is probably the best passive ability in the game if you’re a mage… which Chronos coincidentally is. Time Lord gives Chronos a stack every minute and a half, these stacks increase his Magical Power by 5. Chronos can have a maximum of 25 stacks, with 5 MP per stack, that’s an extra 125 Magical Power! However, it’s quite rare for a game to last that long.

His first ability is Time Rift. Time Rift is an AoE spell that deals damage to any enemies caught in it. The damage is quite good, however, the spell itself really isn’t unique.

Accelerate is his second ability, it steadily gives Chronos an increase to his movement speed and attack speed. There’s also a second mechanic that ties directly into his Wheel of Time. Depending on when you activate this ability, you can also gain a further bonus. The 1st section heals you for 1% of your HP per second. The 2nd section refunds all your mana when you cast abilities. The 3rd section increases your Magical Power. Finally, the 4th section gives your basic attacks extra damage based on your Magical Power.

Stop Time is Chronos’ third ability. It’s basically a skill shot that Chronos sends out in a straight line, if an enemy God is hit they take damage and are stunned. This ability has two ticks, the initial one when the enemy first gets hit, and a subsequent one once they get stunned.

Rewind sends Chronos back in time to where he was 8 seconds ago, all of his cooldowns are instantly reset as well. It also makes the enemy curse you out each time you use it, on account of how annoying it is to lose out on a kill.

Ideal Chronos Build

Chronos Build

Maximum damage is the name of the game with this build, here’s how to go about it.

Start the game by picking up a Sands of Time and a Spellbook. For relics get an Aegis Amulet and a Blink Rune. For shards, however, you should pick up a Wing Shard.

Once you’ve collected some money, upgrade your starter items into a Pendulum of Ages and a Book of Thoth and start building up those stacks. Follow those up with a Cyclopean Ring, Charon’s Coin, a Perfected Rod of Tahuti, and a Telkhines Ring.

One thing that’s missing from this list is the almost obligatory Spear of Magnus that all mages get. Here’s the thing though, you don’t really need it with Chronos. His passive ability more than compensates for the Magical Power that you lose out by not getting it.

Tips for Playing With Chronos

  • Focus on farming initially, Chronos is a God that needs some time to start shining
  • Always keep an eye on the Wheel of Time, and use your 2nd ability according to your needs
  • Whenever you use your ultimate, expect an enemy God to be waiting for you on the other side
