An Overview of the BLAST.tv Paris Major

The BLAST.tv Pairs Major just began last May 13, 2023. It marks the 19th and final CS:GO Major ever before the game transitions into Counter-Strike 2 in the latter half of the year. A total of 24 teams will compete for the coveted Major championship and the lion’s share of the $1,250,000 cash prize.

Teams are separated into three different categories: Contenders, Challengers, and Legends. The 16 squads in the Contenders and Challengers categories will compete in the Challengers Stage where only eight will progress further. They will then meet the eight teams that topped their respective Regional Major Ranking (RMR) tournaments and are classified as Legends. From there, only the top eight sides will move on to the Champions Stage where they will play in a single-elimination best-of-three bracket to crown the winners of the BLAST.tv Paris Major.

Among the biggest teams in attendance are the current No. 1 ranked team HLTV.org, Heroic, followed by the rest of the top ten excluding Cloud9 and Virtus.pro who failed to qualify. Despite the tournament being held in France, there is an absence of French-majority squads competing with the closest lineup being that of Vitality housing two French players.

Essential Paris Major Information

Team and Autograph Stickers

One of the most anticipated parts of any CS:GO Major are the Team and Autograph Sticker Capsules available for purchase in the in-game store. These are stickers a player can add to their weapons to add a layer of personality and design. They come in four different variations: Paper, Glitter, Holo, and Gold with Paper typically being the cheapest and Gold being the most expensive.

The exception to this rule comes with the designs on the stickers themselves, especially on autographs, as some are more aesthetically pleasing than others. Two good examples of these are the Autograph Stickers for Robin “ropz” Kool and Ricky “floppy” Kemery. The FaZe rifler designed the middle of his gamertag in the shape of a broken heart, while floppy’s design takes from the popular game ‘Among Us’.

Viewer’s Pass and Pick ‘Em Challenge Coin

In addition to the Sticker Capsules, the BLAST.tv Paris Major also has a Viewer Pass that any player can purchase in a separate hub on the main screen. Prices may vary between regions due to conversion, but the prices are roughly in the $10-11 range for the standalone pass. It unlocks a set of challenges a player must complete, and by doing so can unlock Souvenir Tokens used to claim Souvenir Cases.

The Viewer Pass comes with a Pick ‘Em Challenge Coin, where you can predict the results of each stage of the Major. Successfully completing challenges will also upgrade the coin into different tiers namely Silver, Gold, and Diamond. For the duration of the tournament, any player that bought the pass will also have unlimited graffiti for any team they choose and can equip a special Team Flair when watching the stream on Twitch.
