Octane is a fun and crazy Legend to play. He takes the fast-paced gameplay in Apex Legends and turns it up a level or two. Become a better Apex Legends Octane player and use these tips and tricks to take your game to new speeds.

Apex Legends Octane: Tips and Tricks

One of the best things about Octane is that he is very easy to learn. He’s actually one of the best Legends for beginners because of his easy-to-understand kit. However, there are still some things that you should do when playing as Octane.

Get That Stim High

As Octane, there’s one thing that you always need to do. Spam those Stims. Your Stim ability boosts your speed by up to 40% for 6 seconds. This allows you to quickly rotate, reposition, initiate fights, or retreat from enemies, among many others. It also removes slow effects, making it great for escaping traps.

Don’t be afraid to spend that 20 health to activate your Stim. Trust me. It’s worth it. Plus, you can easily get it back with your Swift Mend passive anyway.

Speed Is Good, Unpredictability Is Better

We already know that speed is Octane’s best friend. However, you simply can’t go charging toward or away from enemies in a straight line. This makes you a big neon green target and leaves you rather helpless.

Thanks to Octane’s speed boost, you can easily run in zigzags without sacrificing efficiency. This makes you a harder target to hit and can even annoy enemies with how you always change directions.

Dare to Fly and Reach New Heights

Octane is a daredevil at heart, and this is very evident through his Launch Pad ultimate. Anyone who steps on it gets thrown into the air. However, only Octane can perform a double jump, which can allow him to reach higher areas or travel longer distances.

The Launch Pad can be used to create uncommon angles, hiding spots, quick rotations, and even baits. You should never be afraid to get creative with your Launch Pad placements as an Apex Legends Octane player. Who knows, you might pull off a crazy outplay with it.

Run and Gun Is the Way

In most shooter games, running and gunning usually isn’t a winning strategy. But, in Apex Legends you can get away with running and gunning, especially when you’re playing as Octane.

In fact, running and gunning is great when you have Stim up. You’re moving so fast that enemies can’t hit you, but you can hit them. Of course, it’s still quite hard to hit enemies while you’re moving, but you’ll get used to it in the long run. You can also practice your run and gun skills in the new Team Deathmatch mode.

Pair run and gun with a fast-hitting weapon like the R-99 SMG, and you’ll be killing enemies before they know what hit them.

Get Up Close and Personal

The next tip is to get as close to enemies as you can. While it’s fun to hit insane long-range sniper shots, you’re wasting Octane’s potential by doing so. Instead, Octane is better off when paired with shotguns, SMGs, or even a rifle like the R-301 Carbine.

Stim and Launch Pad are great abilities that you can use to cover large distances between you and your enemies. This allows you to get within close to medium range before mowing them down.

Nothing is more annoying than seeing an Octane charging full speed at you while running and gunning. You aren’t a true Apex Legends Octane player if you can’t annoy the heck out of your enemies.
