Respawn Entertainment announced that they will be introducing an Apex Legends Team Deathmatch (TDM) mode with the launch of Season 16. It was first confirmed when it appeared in the Revelry trailer. More details about the game mode were then explained with the Revelry update announcement.

What is Team Deathmatch?

A deathmatch game mode is a staple in shooter games and is one of the best ways to warm up your aim and chill with friends. Players often used Control as their main in-game warm-up tool.

The new Apex Legends Team Deathmatch game mode will provide a quick and easy way to warm up. It’s also a great way to test new guns, experiment with some strategies, and try hard to get as many kills as you can.

All the details aren’t fully released yet, but more info will surely become available once we get closer to the release of Revelry: Season 16.

Each game of Team Deathmatch will consist of two teams, each having 6 members. This allows you to enjoy fast-paced gameplay while still sticking to Apex’s core teamplay mechanics.

You can pick your preferred loadout upon spawn, along with your Legend. The loadouts will include a variety of weapons, and allow you to play your preferred playstyle. You can easily swap between Legends and loadouts every time you respawn. This allows you to quickly change playstyles and try out different weapons.

Shields automatically regenerate, although they are thinking of updating this mechanic soon. I can definitely see a shield regen pick-up mechanic or a regen upon kills mechanic coming in the future.

The first team to get 30 kills wins the round. However, don’t lose all hope yet. The Team Deathmatch has a best-of-3 format, just like Control, which means that the first team to win 2 rounds wins the match.

Note: Loadouts can also be swapped between rounds if you want a change of weapon.

Team Deathmatch is looking like the go-to game mode for warm-ups before those intense ranked Battle Royale sessions. It’s also a massive improvement from the Firing Range and allows you to test your reflexes and skills against live opponents.

The Weapons Available in Apex Legends Team Deathmatch

It’s unknown yet whether all the weapons will be available in Apex Legends Team Deathmatch or if you can only use a select few. Even though TDM is only a casual game mode, they still need to balance the game mode since Respawn still wants their casual games to be fun and competitive. It’s not going to be fun for players if they fail to update and balance the game.

As far as we know, there are 10 confirmed weapons that are distributed across the different loadouts. All the grenades are also available in the game.

Here are all the loadouts that are available in Apex Legends Team Deathmatch:

  • Close-Quarters – R-99 SMG and EVA-8 Auto with Arc Star
  • Heavy – Peacekeeper and Alternator SMG with Arc Star
  • Assault VK-47 Flatline and P2020 with Frag Grenade
  • Specialist – Wingman and Longbow DMR with Thermite Grenade
  • Long-Range– 30-30 Repeater and Prowler Burst POW with Arc Star

Respawn has also said that you can get better weapons by keeping your eye open for mid-round airdrops. This can either mean better rarity weapons than those found in loadouts or simply different weapons altogether.

Apex Legends Team Deathmatch is right around the corner and it’ll definitely be exciting to see how it will affect Apex Legends in the future. Download the Z League app, where you can register for tournaments, post your highlights, and find teammates using the LFG feature!
