Key Takeaways

  • The Pearl Map changes were implemented back in Valorant patch 6.11
  • B hall has been made wider with an additional cover on the right side
  • The ramp on B main has been made smaller and less wide to restrict the enemies from too much strafing
  • Additional Blocks have been added behind screens giving access to the defenders to jump over screens
  • The width of the pillar has been increased to provide more space for the defenders

Ever thought why it’s so hard to defend B site on Pearl? Is it only you, or is it the map that takes away almost every defense round from you when they push B? Well, it’s not just you. Everyone is tired of losing their defense rounds on B site, but Riot has pitched in and introduced some Pearl map changes, which might push some contests in favor of the defending team. The Pearl Map was changed back in Valorant patch 6.11 and we’re going to provide an in-depth breakdown of what these changes mean.

Valorant Pearl Map Changes

With these Valorant Pearl map changes, there will be no more smoke spamming and long angle post spike strategies for the attacking team. There will also be fewer angles for the defending team to clear and more control over the site. Let’s dive into the recent Pearl map changes and what they mean in Valorant.

B Hall

One of the best pearl map changes is the B hall change from the screen’s side, which has been made wider and extended to make another cover for the defenders to hide, this gives attackers another angle to clear before entering the site and also helps defenders to snipe and strafe while being covered from most of B main during the push.

B Ramp

The ramp on the attacker’s side has been changed to lose width, which restricts the angles for attackers to peek B site from long and makes it easier for defenders to peek B main during post plant. The ramp initially was really attacker friendly as the attacker could reposition through the entire width of the box and win the gunfight. The wall next to the ramp has also been removed as a cover for the attackers to make it easier for defenders to play post-plant and diffuse spike.

Screens

A new block has been added to B screens which is available to the defenders post-round. Using this the defenders can jump on top of screens and hold an angle onto B main.  This angle is an addition for the defenders to snipe and also to hide as defenders can’t be seen when they are crouching hence another angle for the attackers to clear when they push. This angle also serves a great purpose in stopping smoke spamming.

Pillar

The pillar that supports the B haven has also observed some changes. The pillar was very thin, allowing only 1 or a maximum of 2 players to hide behind it, and not being bulletproof ensured a free kill or damage for the attackers. The width of the tower has been increased to give more space and cover to the defenders making it harder for the attackers to take site control and easier for the defenders to move around and deny entry.

These Pearl map changes were really important as the attackers easily exploited the map’s B site. The attackers would spam their way into the site using consecutive smokes plant for B Long and then hold the spike through B main. This made Pearl a biased map towards attackers, already being a difficult map compared to others. Check Pearl: Valorant Map Guide to know more about advanced tactics on the Pearl Map in Valorant.
