Flash Out of Smokes or Blaze

Phoenix’s Curveball is one of his most important abilities. It’s an essential tool that blinds enemies, allows him to enter sites, and get kills. However, it can easily be dodged, especially at higher ranks.

A creative way to use Phoenix’s flash is by using it inside of smokes and other vision-impairing abilities. This creates a pop-flash that enemies usually don’t expect. You can also throw up your Blaze wall first, then flash out of it when entering sites.

Another creative flash that most high-ranked Valorant Phoenix players use is bouncing the flash. Bouncing Curveball on the surface of walls or on the ground will make it pop faster and make it harder to counter.

Most enemies won’t be able to turn around in time, resulting in them being fully blinded. Just make sure that you don’t accidentally blind any allies behind you!

Try to Play Around Ult Orbs

Phoenix’ Run it Back is his most powerful ability. It allows you to enter any site without the fear of dying. It’s quite literally a 2nd chance at life and also gives you full armor and health back.

This is why it’s important to try and gather as many ult orbs as you can so that you can quickly get your ultimate up. Usually, you can contest ult orbs using your Curveball or your Blaze to make it safer to collect.

Use Run It Back to Gather Information

Now that you have your ultimate up by gathering ult orbs, it’s time to find out the best way to use it. Most new Valorant Phoenix players will usually use Run it Back and literally run into the site and try to get kills. While this can be effective, especially if you can get a kill or two, it’s often not ideal

Instead, the best thing to do is to gather as much information as you can about the site. Clear traps, find where enemies are hiding, clear corners, and make sure that the site is safe for you and your team to enter. It’s a bonus if you can get frags along the way.

Best Ways to Effectively Use Phoenix When Attacking

  • Flash for your team when entering the site.
  • Use Hot Hands to clear corners.
  • Use Blaze to cover areas that your Controller can’t.
  • Wait for your team before using Run it Back.
  • Try to lurk if there are better Duelists for entry fragging (Jett, Neon, Reyna).

Best Ways to Effectively Use Phoenix When Defending

  • Use Hot Hands and Blaze to block entrances and stop rushes.
  • Try to save your flash for retakes unless you’re sure you can get kills.
  • You can use Run it Back aggressively at the start of rounds to try and get early picks.
  • You can use Run it Back for retaking.
