Triple Take: Apex Legends Weapon Guide

The Triple Take, so called on account of the three bullets it fires… Or at least I hope that’s the case. I don’t know man, I just work here.

The Triple Take has always been an interesting rifle, sometimes for good reasons, other times… not so much. It always seems to be in the crosshairs of the balancing team over at Respawn Entertainment, as it constantly gets buffed into the sky or nerfed into oblivion. As such, the gun is infamous among players, some swear by it, while others avoid it like the plague.

The Triple Take Fires 3 Bullets, Doesn’t That Make it a Shotgun?

No. The mechanic with the Triple Take is rather interesting. Being a weapon that utilizes Energy Rounds, that means that it also comes with a specific mechanic. Thankfully though, the mechanic for the Triple Take is actually a boon, rather than something that hampers it, like the Havoc and L-Star have.

It’s because of this specific mechanic that it can also double as a fairly effective close-quarters weapon, something that is practically unheard of when it comes to marksman weapons. With marksman weapons, you want to try and avoid close-quarter engagements like you’re allergic to them. And then there’s the Triple Take, which whispers into your ear like a little devil, “Come on, you know you can take them. I know they have an Eva-8, but that doesn’t matter!”

The Stats of the Triple Take

Let’s see how it does compared to its brethren.

Impressive, very impressive. With damage like this, you can practically guarantee that an opponent will be downed in a few well-placed shots, and considering how much ammo the Triple Take has, that shouldn’t be a hard prospect. Surely this thing can’t get any better, can it?

Attachments for the Triple Take

Oh yes, it can! Here are its attachments:

  • Extended Energy Mag
  • Sniper Stock
  • 1x Holo
  • 1x HCOG “Classic”
  • 2x HCOG “Bruiser”
  • 1x-2x Variable Holo
  • 3x HCOG “Ranger”
  • 2x-4x Variable AOG

You might be asking yourself, “Huh, that’s strange. That’s not a lot of attachments?” And sadly, it isn’t. The Triple Take is quite limited when it comes to its attachments, but considering how powerful it is already, does it really need them?

Ideal Triple Take Set-Up

Now, if you’re lucky during your match, here’s how you should kit out your Triple Take.

Start by locating a Legendary Extended Energy Mag, after this, you’re practically set. Follow that up with an Epic Sniper Stock. You can finish out the build by either grabbing a 1x-2x Variable Holo, 3x HCOG “Ranger” or a 2x-4x Variable AOG. The option for which you prefer is based on what you plan to do with the TT. Do you want to take it up close and personal or stay at range? I personally almost always go with the Ranger, as it’s the middle of both worlds and I really like the sight profile.

Triple Take VS G7 Scout

Previously, we took a look at the G7 Scout and discussed how it might be the best DMR in the game, that is if the Triple Take doesn’t have anything to say about that.

On paper at least, the fully equipped G7 Scout takes the cake for sure. With its high rate of fire, accuracy, and decent damage, it’s a formidable opponent. All of this only gets further boosted if you equip a Double Tap Trigger, then there’s definitely no competition, the Scout wins outright. But herein lies the problem. The Scout needs the right equipment to excel, while the Triple Take is good regardless of what you have attached to it. So in the end, it boils down to this question. Are you willing to pick up the gun which will require a lot of equipment to unleash its full potential, or do you want something that’s decent from the get-go?

Potential Balance Changes for the Triple Take in the Future

As was said at the beginning, the Triple Take is constantly getting rebalanced, so who knows what’s in store for it in the next update? One thing I’d personally like to see increased is the rate of fire. As it currently is, it feels a bit too much like a bolt action rifle, rather than a semi-automatic rifle. So, an increase to its fire rate will definitely be a welcomed change.
