The Bucky is a cheap shotgun that has a solid primary fire that works best when holding close angles and cheeky corners. However, it also has an alt fire for long-range battles that launches a canister before spreading pellets.

It’s one of the more flexible shotguns in Valorant because of its ability to one-shot enemies at close range and deal decent damage at medium range. Unfortunately, it does struggle a bit with the slow reload and fire rate. So choose and aim your shots wisely.

The Basic Stats

The Bucky has a headshot multiplier of x2, a leg shot multiplier of x0.85, an 8-12m damage falloff multiplier of x0.65, and a 12m+ damage falloff multiplier of x0.45.

It also has a fire rate of 1.1 rounds/sec, reload speed of 2.5s or 0.5s per shell, and a magazine size of 5 with 10 reserves.

Here are the basic damage stats for the Bucky:

  • 0 – 8 meters – Head (40)
  • 0 – 8 meters – Body (20)
  • 0 – 8 meters – Legs (17)
  • 8 – 12 meters – Head (26)
  • 8 – 12 meters – Body (13)
  • 8 – 12 meters – Legs (11)
  • 12 – 50 meters – Head (18)
  • 12 – 50 meters – Body (9)
  • 12 – 50 meters – Legs (7)

All of the data shown above assumes that all of the pellets hit. The alt fire features a canister that travels 7.5 m before exploding into tiny pellets. If the canister hits an enemy before traveling 7.5 m, it will not explode and will only deal 40, 20, and 15 damage to the head, body, and legs, respectively.

The Best Ways to Use the Bucky

When using the Bucky, you’ll always have to think about what fire mode to use and when to use them. With a slow 1.1 fire rate, you usually only have enough time to get a shot or two out before you are killed.

When holding corners or close angles, it’s best to use the primary fire for maximum damage. It has the potential to one-shot enemies as long as you can properly aim. It’s recommended to aim for the body instead of the head. The body provides you with a larger surface area, making it much easier to hit.

On the other hand, the alternative fire excels at fights around 8 to 16 meters. In this range, it’s still possible to deal an insane amount of damage to enemies. It’s best to aim at somewhere around the neck area when using the alternative fire. This ensures that when the canister explodes, the pellets will hit the victim’s head and body.

The Bucky is only 50 credits more expensive than the Sheriff, making it a solid go-to choice during half-buy rounds. Use the Sheriff if you’re planning on more range fights and the Bucky for close combat.
