Key Takeaways for the RE-45 Auto
- It’s good but it’s very situational
- It runs out of ammunition pretty fast
- It’s better than the Alternator
- The RE-45 Auto is often times avoided because of how late into the game it drops

In my honest opinion, I believe the RE-45 Auto to be one of the most underrated weapons in the game by far. What’s sad is that for the most part at least, it isn’t even the RE-45’s fault. The RE-45 is a great gun all around, its only downside is that it’s a supply-drop weapon, and, as with all supply-drop weapons, it has a limited ammo supply. Compared to the Kraber, the RE-45 eats through its supply much faster.

The Biggest Issue with the RE-45 Auto
The biggest issue with the RE-45 Auto is that it almost always drops too late into the match. It’s a great gun by all means, it’s just not the best gun, especially when the final ring is closing in. This has always been the issue with the RE-45, by the time it drops, you’ve most likely already kitted out another weapon.
If it comes down to choosing between a fully kitted out R-301 or the RE-45 Auto, then there’s simply no comparison – the R-301 is preferred in most situations. What’s more, if you do pick up the RE-45, as soon as it runs dry you’ll have to switch it out with a brand-new gun. This means, that you’ll have to find not only attachments for it but also surplus ammunition; something that becomes exceedingly scarce as the match progresses.
The Stats of the RE-45 Auto
Target | Mods | DMG | 100 | 150 | 175 | 200 | 225 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Head (1.5x) | – | 21 | 5 | 8 | 9 | 10 | 11 |
Head | Lvl. 1 | 20 | 5 | 8 | 9 | 10 | 12 |
Head | Lvl. 2 | 18 | 6 | 9 | 10 | 12 | 13 |
Head | Lvl. 3/4 | 16 | 7 | 10 | 11 | 13 | 15 |
Body | – | 14 | 8 | 11 | 13 | 15 | 17 |
Body | Fort | 12 | 9 | 13 | 15 | 17 | 19 |
Legs (0.9x) | – | 13 | 8 | 12 | 14 | 16 | 18 |
Legs | Fort | 11 | 10 | 14 | 16 | 19 | 21 |
Not too bad, not too bad. Not the best by far, but it’s ok damage, considering it’s just a pistol round.
Attachments for the RE-45 Auto
Because it’s a supply drop weapon, it always comes equipped with the same loadout, but it can also hold the following attachments:
- 1x HCOG “Classic”
- 1x Holo
- 1x-2x Variable Holo
- 2x HCOG “Bruiser”
- 1x Digital Threat
- Disruptor Rounds
The RE-45 is a bit funny because in-game you can only change out the optics slot, while it actually comes fully kitted out with both a hop-up, a magazine upgrade, and a laser sight; something that isn’t shown in-game.
Ideal RE-45 Set-Up
Because it’s a supply drop weapon, it already comes in its ideal configuration. But if it ever loses its supply drop weapon status, here’s how you should equip it.
Start by finding a Legendary Extended Light Mag. Follow that up with an Epic Laser Sight. In the end, get either a 1x HCOG “Classic” or a 2x HCOG “Bruiser”, and change them out for a 1x Digital Threat if it becomes available.
You (The Alternator) vs the Guy she Told you not to Worry About (The RE-45 Auto)
The RE-45 Auto is best compared to the Alternator, as they are the most similar both in looks and functionality. Both are machine pistols (as the Germans like to call them), both perform their best at close range, and both are almost always avoided by players, but for different reasons.
In a straight-out fight, the RE-45 Auto is superior to the Alternator in almost every way, yet, both weapons are for the most part avoided by players. The Alternator is avoided because there are simply better options available, while the RE-45 is avoided because it usually drops way too late into the match.
Possible Balance Changes for the RE-45 Auto in the Future
The RE-45 Auto is in a pretty good position as it is right now, so a change is unlikely to happen soon. One change that we could see is it getting its supply drop weapon status removed, or, ironically enough, it might just swap places with the Alternator.
