Is Warzone 2 becoming Warzone 1?

How different will Warzone 2.0 be from Warzone 1 after the Season 2 update?

The latest Season 2 update from Activision seems to suggest that major changes that were introduced as part of Warzone 2.0 are being reverted. It’s no secret that fans of Warzone 1 were quite surprised when Warzone 2.0 launched with it’s slower and more methodical gameplay. These changes seem to have alienated a fairly large group of Warzone players and is likely the reason behind these sweeping changes for Season 2.

Some of the largest changes include:

  • Return of 1v1 Gulag
  • Return of 3-plate vests
  • Return of custom perk packages
  • Return of Resurgence

While it seems like these changes will be well-received by the broader Warzone community, it does bring forth the question of whether Warzone 2.0 will be sufficiently different than Warzone 1? Perhaps there was nothing really wrong with the Warzone 1 formula and all players really wanted was just new content. It will be interesting to watch the player base for Season 2 and whether we’ll see past regulars returning to the game.

Either way, this round of newly announced changes have created some fairly entertaining memes:
