Key Takeaways for the Smite Magical Power Build

  • The point of this build is to amass as much Magical Power as possible
  • Your alpha strike potential is huge, but your damage quickly falls off in protracted fights
  • Crowd Control is your worst enemy, as it can instantly kill your combo

Smite Magical Power builds really are something else. I think it’s humanity’s innate desire for big numbers and shiny lights that drives people to create magical power builds. If you use a magical power build you practically turn your God into a walking nuke. A force of nature that cannot be stopped… Except if you get stun locked, that is.

The Most Important Magical Power Items

Soul Reaver

Smite Magical Power Builds Soul Reaver

It’s a smart idea to get Soul Reaver as soon as possible once you get in the game. It might not seem like a good investment at the start, but it’ll be more than worth it once the mid-game hits.

Soul Reaver gives you +95 MP, and +300 Mana. It’s passive, however, is what you’re after. Soul Reaver’s passive makes you deal 2% of the enemy’s maximum health as bonus damage, with damage scaling up the more health an enemy has.

As a Mage, this is your essential anti-tank item, which is why it’s one of the best items for a Magical Power Build in Smite.

Spear of Magus

Spear of the Magus

The Spear of Magus is an essential item for any Mage, regardless of the build you’re running. It’s possibly even one of the most useful items in Smite actually.

Spear of Magus gives you +110 MP, +8% Magical Lifesteal, and + 8% Magical Pen. Its passive also makes enemy Gods take increased damage from all sources for 8s.

High Magical Power, Lifesteal, and Penetration, what’s not to love about this thing?

Rod of Tahuti

Rod of Tahuti

If Magical Power builds are like a nuke, then the Rod of Tahuti is the Plutonium that’s in the nuke.

Rod of Tahuti gives you +140 MP, +30 MP5, and +8% Magical Pen. Its passive also gives your basic attacks and abilities bonus damage against enemies that are below 60% health.

The cherry on top for the Rod of Tahuti is the fact that it can be further upgraded with a glyph, which makes an already devastating item into an utterly terrifying item.

Staff of Myrddin

Staff of Myrrddin

The Staff of Myrddin is the perfect “cherry on top” for every magical power build. By the late game, you should have effectively amassed all the Magical Power in the world, this item helps you round it all out.

Staff of Myrddin gives you +105 Magical Power, +8% Magical Pen, and +10% Cooldown Reduction. Its passive also gives you Myrddin’s Rage every time you use your ultimate, which increases your damage by 20% for a few seconds.

Arguably, this item isn’t as necessary as the other items, as you’re most likely not going to be initiating your combo with your ultimate. If you do so, however, then your subsequent combo will be even more devastating.

The Perfect Magical Power Build in Smite

Magical Power Build

This is the order of the perfect Magical Power Build in Smite:

  1. Archmage’s Gem
  2. Soul Reaver
  3. Spear of Magus
  4. Rod of Tahuti
  5. Staff of Myrddin
  6. Obsidian Shard

The passive ability on the Archmage’s Gem is too good to be passed up, as it gives you bonus damage on your first spell This is especially useful if you pair it with the Staff of Myrddin’s passive.

Get the Soul Reaver to negate your weakness to tanks early on, and follow that up with a Spear of Magus. Grab a Rod of Tahuti and upgrade it to a Perfected Rod of Tahuti as soon as possible. From there, get your Staff of Myrddin, and finish off the build with an Obsidian Shard.

With this build, you’ll practically have the most amount of alpha strike damage that is immortally possible.
