Key Takeaways:

  • New PvP maps arriving next week
  • Introduction of a new playlist called “new territory” for the new maps
  • Changes to exotic armor acquisition through the cryptarch
  • Revamped shader icons for more accurate representation

New PvP Maps and Playlist:

In the upcoming update, Destiny 2 players can expect three new PvP maps. These maps will be available in a separate 3v3 playlist called “new territory,” which will replace the 3v3 quickplay node. The playlist will feature game modes such as Survival, Elimination, Clash, and Collision. Players can also pick up an intro quest from Shaxx for more details on the maps and playlist. Additionally, the new territory playlist will be available until the end of the season, and players who engage in it will be awarded a new station emblem.

New Exotic Armor Acquisition:

Bungie is changing the way players acquire new exotic armor pieces. The cryptarch, Raul, will become the source for any new exotic armor released. Players can increase their reputation with Raul by decoding engrams with him, and once they fill the reputation track and reset their rank, they can enter an elite club that grants access to a new tier of focus. As part of this change, old sources of exotic armor will remain the same, but lost sectors will drop engrams instead of gear. Players are advised to stock up on exotic engrams and ascendant shards before the update to be ready for the new system.

Revamped Shader Icons:

The final shape update also includes changes to shader icons. Currently, shader icons only show four colors out of the six that the shader applies, leading to inconsistent appearances. The updated design will feature all six colors and make the primary colors appear to take more space than the secondary colors, providing a more accurate representation. Glows will also be reflected in the updated design, making it easier to distinguish shaders with glows in the selection screen.
