Key Takeaways

  • Forcing is buying when you should conventionally save your credits
  • There are 2 types of rounds, eco and bonus rounds
  • Force buy when you are desperate for a comeback and if winning the round results in a big lead.
  • Force buy at the last rounds of the half and when the enemy is 1 round away from a win
  • Force buy when you are confident in your gunmanship

Sometimes, you just don’t have the economy to buy weapons, but you desperately need the round, and you just go on and buy whatever you can. Doing this, you know that if you lose, you will have a terrible economy later on, but you do it anyway. This is called force buying. This is an essential aspect in Valorant, as force buying may sometimes give you the kick you need to return to the game.

The Art Of Forcing

In order to understand what a force buy is, you need to understand the types of rounds in Valorant:

Eco Round:

This specific round is when you save your credits, so you have a stable economy later in the game. You buy pistols or just half, so you save enough for a full buy next round.

Bonus Round:

This is the round in which you have just won the last round, and don’t buy anything and use the weapons of the previous round. This round is usually when you save for a stable economy throughout the game and when you are confident about winning the round.

You can force buy in any of these rounds, and you force buy in an eco round only if you desperately need the win. Let’s say you are 5 – 8, and the enemy team will get a lead too high for you to catch up if they win the next round. Here instead of saving, you should force buy and try to steal that round from the opponent.

Similarly, in Bonus rounds, you might need the lead over the enemy; for example, in a situation such as 7 – 6, although you have won the previous round, buying almost full load-outs would ensure a win in the next round and in return give you the lead over the enemy team, so you buy whatever you can and push the enemy when they are expecting you to play a bonus round.

Necessary-Force buys

There are times when it becomes necessary for you to force buy, for example, in the last round of the half, where you will lose all your credits the next round. You just need to buy everything you can.

When the enemy team is at the matchpoint where if they win, the match will end, You need to force buy as there is no point in saving if losing the round is not an option at all.
Sometimes, your teammates might be really confident and have a good aim. You should definitely force buy that round in order to support them.

Hence it is of utmost importance that you know when saving is important and when you just need to buy anything that will help you win the round. Excessive saving and excessive buying are never appreciated by anyone. It is important to keep a balance, and at other times, necessary to take strict and risky decisions that could prove fatal, but if successful, it could lead to a victory.
