There have been quite a few changes to Blizzard’s juggernaut series since Diablo III, and with the release inching ever closer, it’s time to take a closer look at what new features are coming to Diablo IV. Regardless if you are new to the series or a veteran, there are bound to be things that will come as a surprise to you as you take on the legions of Lilith. Read on to see what’s new in Diablo IV.

Key Takeaways for New Additions in Diablo IV:

  • Gain Renown while exploring for XP, gold, and skill points.
  • Diablo IV has a new open world that is fully explorable.
  • The new skill tree allows you to invest in the skills that you want.
  • Aspects can make your character overpowered.
  • The Paragon Board is back but with a twist.
  • Show everyone your favorite new additions on the Z League app.

The Renown System

To encourage exploration and well, just playing the game, Blizzard has implemented a Renown System into Diablo IV. The Renown level will be independent of your level, difficulty setting, or paragon level. You can get Renown by doing a variety of tasks like clearing dungeons, clearing strongholds, unlocking waypoints, finding the Altars of Lilith, etc. When your Renown Level increases you will get all sorts of goodies like gold, experience, and even skill points! This is a great way to level up without having to grind on trash mobs.

Brand New World

Unlike in previous Diablo games, Diablo IV sports an open world of sorts that is fully explorable and hosts a variety of events that players can participate in. The name of the world is called Sanctuary and it has five different sections that are vastly different from one another. They are as follows:

·  Hawezar, the swamp region

·  Fractured Peaks, the icy region

·  The Dry Steppes, the mountain region

·  Kehjistan, the desert region

·  Scosglen, the forest region

Even though each locale is different from the others, the devs have created the maps so that they seamlessly change from one region to another. The overworld will also play host to a range of events like PvP, world bosses, and other activities.

A New Skill Tree

The skill tree in Diablo IV is quite different from the one in Diablo III. It has a bit more in common with Diablo II, but there are still notable differences. Different sections of the skill tree will unlock after a certain amount of skill points are placed in the already unlocked sections. This way you will not have to directly move along the tree and invest in skills that you don’t want just to get a nice Advanced Skill. Now you will be able to choose which abilities compliment your build the best and not have to unlock useless skills that you will never use to get the right Ultimate.

Aspects

Aspects are all the rage in Diablo IV since they not only provide powerful buffs and skills but can also be attached to certain gear and equipment for some truly incredible builds. Throughout the game, you will stumble upon Legendary gear that has unique Aspects attached. You can then detach the Aspect from the gear, which will destroy the gear but allow you to attach the Aspect to another piece of gear. This will make for some very unique build sets that will make your character go from good to great.

The Paragon Board

You won’t be using the Paragon Board until you hit level 50, but it’s a pretty nifty feature in Diablo IV. Diablo III also had a Paragon Board, but it has gone through a few changes since the last game. Although you still get 4 Paragon Points every time you level up, this time you will have a limited number of Paragon Points to expend and will have to carefully plan what build makes sense for your character. Bosses will also drop glyphs that can be incorporated into the Paragon Board, which will also change the properties of the nodes around it. This will be an exciting tool for players to play around with!
