Infinity Ward announced via twitter on January 30th that insured weapon slots would not reset with season 02, which was previously believed to be the case. DMZ players have had an overwhelmingly positive response to this news.

Much to the dismay of DMZ fans, insiders claim that essentially all DMZ progress will be wiped with the impending Season 2 update on February 15th, 2023.

Specifically, the following DMZ progress will be reset for all players:

  • Reset of Faction Tiers
  • Reset of Mission Progress
  • Reset of stored contraband and keys

Players are understandably upset and some-what bewildered as to why this decision is being made. Seemingly, it looks like account-level progress data is just being wiped from the backend for DMZ as opposed to a data migration for Season 2, assuming that there are setup or schema changes. It’s possible that either Infinity Ward doesn’t want some of the progress data to carry forward or that the migration, for whatever reason, would be too costly to deploy. Either way, this seems like a fumble on the developer’s part. We’ll be closely watching how this develops and what kind of impact it will have on the DMZ playerbase.
