Valorant Cypher

Valorant Cypher: Key takeaways

  • Valorant Cypher skills: Trapwire, Cyber Cage, Spycam, Neural Theft.
  • Your goal on Attackers as Cypher: Watch flanks, gather information using Spycam or Neural Theft, and block vision with Cyber Cage.
  • Your goal on Defenders as Cypher: Make it hard for enemies to enter the site, lurk or flank when no one is attacking you, and watch for late lurks or rotates.
  • Always leave one Trapwire behind when lurking or rotating.
  • Use Cyber Cage to deny information or to delay pushes.

Cypher may not be the defensive powerhouse that he used to be, but he’s still a pretty solid Sentinel. He provides information to his team, can delay pushes, and catch flanks. He can still cause damage to an enemy’s attack if you can play him correctly.

Be an Aggressive Lurker

Many new Valorant Cypher players use him as a traditional Sentinel. This means that they play safe, stay back, and let their utility do all the work. While this can work on Cypher to some degree. There are better ways to use him.

As Cypher, you need to lurk and look for flanking opportunities. Your Trapwires don’t have any range on them and will be activated even if you leave them behind. This gives you the perfect opportunity to catch rotations or pinch enemies from behind.

Peek off of Your Trapwires or Spycam

Cypher’s main skills aren’t as effective as holding a site like Killjoy or Sage. So you’ll need to get more creative with the way you utilize them in-game. Your trips can delay pushes for a bit but won’t hold enemies off for long.

A quick way to get easy picks is instantly swinging whenever someone gets snagged by your trip. Most players’ initial instinct is to shoot the trip. This gives you some time to peek and get a free kill.

You can also use your Spycam to watch entrances, tag them, and then instantly peek. This will often catch enemies off-guard because their first instinct will always be to shoot the cam or remove the dart.

Stack your Trapwires

Another tip for aspiring Valorant Cypher players out there is stacking your Trapwires. You can stack them vertically to ensure that no one gets past them using utility or by jumping.

You can also choose to stack them horizontally. This one catches most players off-guard. After clearing the first trip, most people just rush into the site. This allows you to easily snag them up with your second Trapwire.

Use Your Cyber Cage to Create Aggressive Angles

Your Cypher Cage is different from regular smokes. It’s more similar to Jett’s smoke than any Controller’s smoke. So, you’ll need to use it in a more creative way as well.

One trick is to place Cyber Cages on top of Trapwires. You then instantly activate them whenever someone gets snagged. This gives you an easy way to peek without them seeing where you are.

You can also use your Cyber Cage to set up aggressive peeks. You can use your Cyber Cage as cover, and your enemies won’t know where you’ll be swinging from. Finally, you can also find some one-way setups for some easy kills.

The Best Ways to Effectively Use Cypher When Attacking

  • Make sure to leave a Trapwire for flanks.
