According to mythos, Izanami and her brother Izanagi were the Gods that were tasked with bringing about all of creation in Japanese folklore; though she prefers the opposite nowadays as she’s one of the deadliest killers in Smite currently.

All things considered, Izanami isn’t that hard of a God to play. However, and there’s always a however, she is incredibly squishy; as such, you have to adapt your playstyle accordingly. She can dish out a lot of damage in a short amount of time, but she can’t take it, which makes her an exemplary glass cannon.

Key Takeaways for Smite Izanami Guide

  • Izanami is a glass cannon
  • Izanami is one of the best Smite Gods
  • Izanami is one of the best carries, sadly, that’s about the only role she can fulfill

Izanami Abilities

Smite Izanami Guide Abilities

Starting off with her passive, we have Death Draws Night. Death Draws Night works on a similar principle as Sun Wukong’s passive, the more health Izanami is missing – the stronger she gets.

Her first ability, Sickle Storm, gives Izanami an increase to her attack speed and damage for a short amount of time. This bonus damage works on any hostile unit and object, no matter what they might be.

Spectral Projection sends out a demonic visage of Izanami in a straight line, dealing damage and slowing any opponents it hits. This ability is basically a skill shot, however, you’re going to want to finish enemies off with this one as it will increase the slow percentage in the future.

Fade Away is practically a teleportation ability that transports Izanami from one place to another. Unlike other abilities, however, Fade Away also grants Izanami stealth upon exiting.

Finally, we have her ultimate, Dark Portal. Dark Portal is an AoE spell that damages and silences any enemies caught within it. Mind you, its radius is quite small, however, the amount of damage it does more than makes up for it in the end.

Ideal Izanami Build

Izanami Build

As was mentioned in the beginning, Izanami is the perfect example of a glass tank, so getting protection items is practically useless. Instead, you should put all your eggs in a single basket and maximize her damage output.

Start off by grabbing a Leather Cowl and a Light Blade for starters. For relics, you’re going to want Heavenly Wings and a Cursed Ankh. It’s also a smart idea to pick up a Wing Shard.

Later, evolve the starting items into a Hunter’s Cowl and Qin’s Sais. You’re not done yet though, follow that up with a Deathbringer. Later you can transform it into an Envenomed Deathbringer if you wish. Once you have those 3 core items, grab a Bladed Boomerang, a Bloodforge, and finally, a Rage.

With all these items combined, you should have maximized your attack speed as well as your physical damage and crit change. The best defense is a good offense!

Tips for Playing With Izanami

  • You don’t really have a combo with Izanami, always look to engage fights with your first ability though
  • However, you do have multiple Relics and a Shard to take into consideration. Both of those will increase your damage exponentially, so don’t go wasting them!
  • Izanami is a good carry, but is poor in any other role, when playing her stick to her one role
