Sojourn Key Takeaways

  • Sojourn’s best maps include medium sightlines, which allow her to do significant damage with her primary fire. Thanks to her vertical movement abilities, she’s better on maps with high ground than similar hitscan heroes like Cassidy are.
  • Sojourn’s worst maps lack verticality and/or allow enemy players to get up close to Sojourn. If she can’t control engagements, Sojourn has trouble charging her Railgun Alt Fire and can get overwhelmed easily.
  • Sojourn has the potential to counter many damage (DPS) and support heroes due to her ability to one-shot with her Railgun Alt Fire. She’s indirectly effective against heroes with large hitboxes, such as Roadhog, which allow her to easily charge her Railgun Alt Fire safely.
  • Sojourn is countered by heroes that prevent her from easily charging her Railgun Alt Fire, such as Reinhardt. She is also countered by dive damage (DPS) heroes such as Genji and Tracer due to their ability to control the flow of engagements.

Sojourn Quick Tips

  • Sojourn has 200 total health, with no armor or shields.
  • Sojourn has a relatively narrow hitbox compared to other heroes. Take advantage of this fact by strafing unpredictably.
  • Sojourn’s biggest threat is her Railgun Alt Fire. Walking around with a charged Railgun Alt Fire forces enemy players to find cover.
  • Sojourn pairs well with Mercy’s Damage Boost, which allows her to charge her Railgun Alt Fire more quickly. Download the Z League app to find support teammates who will enable you to carry games.

Railgun (Primary Fire)

Sojourn’s primary fire deals up to 126 damage per second, making it a powerful mid-range weapon. The projectile weapon gives Sojourn’s Railgun Alt Fire five charge per hit against enemy heroes and one charge per hit against enemy buildables and shields.

Railgun Alt Fire

Railgun Alt Fire shoots a single hitscan bullet that deals up to 130 damage, with damage falloff starting at 40 meters. Its damage multiplier for headshots is 1.5x, bringing its maximum damage to 195 damage. When combined with Disruptor Shot or her primary fire, Sojourn can instantly kill most heroes that aren’t tanks.

Most of Sojourn’s value revolves around hitting Railgun Alt Fire. Without hitting Railgun Alt Fire, she is an inferior pick to a hitscan hero like Cassidy who can output more reliable damage with his primary fire at the same range. Skilled Sojourn players never use their Railgun Alt Fire without careful target selection. Additionally, the mere threat of Railgun Alt Fire is enough to scare enemy players; therefore, skilled Sojourn gameplay revolves around knowing when to use Railgun Alt Fire and when to simply display to enemy players that it’s charged, forcing them to reposition.

Power Slide

Power Slide is Sojourn’s movement ability. She can move a maximum of 16 meters with it, and by jumping at the end of the animation, she can easily reposition onto high ground. Power Slide can be used either as a tool to reposition or as a method to avoid enemy fire during an engagement.

Disruptor Shot

Disrupter Shot aims a projectile which, upon impact or after 30 meters, creates a small vortex with that damages enemy players in its range. With low damage output and a lengthy 15 second cooldown, the ability isn’t the primary damage ability that Sojourn has. Its best use is to get enemies weaker so that Railgun Alt Fire can finish them off, or to force enemy players to reposition slightly, ideally into the sightlines of Sojourn.

Overclock (Ultimate)

Overclock quickly charges Railgun Alt Fire and allows Sojourn to shoot Railgun Alt Fire very quickly, without needing to charge it up with Railgun beforehand. The ultimate can very easily kill multiple enemy players quickly, especially heroes with low total health pools. However, the ability can be easily blocked by shields, and enemy players will be sure to seek cover when they notice the ability has been used. Therefore, Overclock is best used when enemy players are out of position, allowing Sojourn to get a few shots of Railgun Alt Fire off and turn the tide of the teamfight.
