Mechabellum Units Guide

Key Takeaways for Mechabellum Units Guide

  • Mechabellum has three unit categories: Mob Units, Squad Units, and Single-Entity units
  • Mob units are great for rushing your enemy and soaking up fire
  • Squad units almost always have a specialized role that they fulfill and should be used as supporting units
  • Single-Entity units are the strongest units in the game. They’re also the most expensive units in the game.

There are currently 16 units in Mechabellum, so, to learn how to use them effectively, you really need to consult a Mechabellum Units Guide. That’s where we come in.

Mechabellum is a glorified case of rock-paper-scissors; however, it also throws in rockets, lasers, tank shells, and other generally unpleasant objects into the mix. And yet, the general principle remains the same regardless. Certain units will counter other units and in turn, get countered by other units.

That is why you need to have a fundamental understanding of each unit, to recognize what its strengths and weaknesses are. And, what’s more, how to amplify its strengths while nullifying its weaknesses.

Mechabellum Unit Design Philosophy

Mechabellum Units Guide

The game currently has 16 different units that you can choose from. Though, the design philosophy for each of the units can be summarized into three different categories: Numerous Mob Units, Mediocre Squad Units, and Strong Single-Entity Units.

Mob Units

Mob Units

Crawler

The Crawler is the most common type of mob unit you’ll see in any given match. It’s practically the “Zerg rush” unit of the game. The Crawler has high speed, low health, and is incredibly lethal in numbers, especially against Single-Entity Units.

Fang

The Fang is the second most common mob unit in the game. Its role in the game is that of cannon fodder. As sad as that is to say, it really is it’s only redeeming quality. It doesn’t deal any damage, it’s quite slow, and it has low health, it is however quite numerous.

Fangs should be used in tandem with other units to counter units that are strong against single entities, like the Marksman or Melting Point.

Wasp

The Wasp is your general-purpose all-around flying unit. They’re fairly ok against whatever you throw them up against, but die easily to concentrated anti-air units like the Mustang or Overlord.

Use these units to flank, as their speed is their greatest feature.

Mustang

The Mustang is the strongest of the mob units. It’s an all-purpose light tank that can go up against pretty much anything you throw it up against. By purchasing specific upgrades you can further specialize it for either anti-air or anti-ground warfare.

Squad Units

Squad Units

These units fall somewhere in between the larger single-entity units and the smaller mob units. They should be used mainly to support your other units and should not be the mainstay of your army.

Stormcaller

The Stormcaller is the designated artillery unit of the game. It’s painfully slow, but, it probably has the best mob-clearing potential in the game. A single unit of Stormcallers can devastate multiple units of Fangs. Just make sure you protect them at all times.

Sledgehammer

Sledgehammers are your heavy tank units. Generally, you should use this unit as a delaying force so that your other units can outflank your enemy.

Steel Ball

Steel Balls are one of the best anti-mob units in the game, although, they aren’t really limited to just that role. In actuality, they’re a great general-purpose unit. Their only 2 weaknesses are air units and single-entity units designed to snipe them.

Phoenix

The Pheonix is a wing of heavy aircraft that are great for taking out enemies from range. Consider them the flying version of the Marksman. They have great damage and decent maneuverability but low health.

Single-Entity Units

Single-Entity Units

These units are the best of the best. They’re usually the most expensive units you can purchase, but also the most effective at what they do.

Fortress

You can’t have a mech game without unreasonably ginormous mechs now can you? The Fortress is just that mech. It’s the biggest mech in the game and is designed to be the best all-around unit.

Marksman

The Marksman is the designated sniper unit. It excels at taking out squadrons and single-entity units but struggles against large mobs of units. Keeps this unit in the back at all times!

Vulcan

The Vulcan is a slow anti-mob unit. If you need something to match the clearing potential of the Stormcallers and not die the moment it gets hit – get a Vulcan. Ideally, you should place this unit at the front of your formation, as it’s rather slow-moving.

Melting Point

Melting Point is the strongest anti-single-entity unit in the game. Not even the mighty Fortress can withstand its beam. It does however need a few seconds to fully charge its beam, and it’s notoriously weak to mob units.

Rhino

The Rhino is your “Leroy Jenkins” unit. You put this unit at the forefront of your formation and let it cleave through the enemy. It has great movement speed, high health, and high damage, but is susceptible to units like the Marksman.

Overlord

The Overlord is the king of the skies. It’s the strongest flying unit in the game, and potentially the strongest unit overall. It has a relatively slow movement speed, but high damage against both ground and air units.

Hacker

Hacker is a situational unit at best. It does as its name implies, it hacks the enemy’s units and turns them to your side. You should ideally use this unit to steal away any powerful single-entity units that the enemy is sending on your flanks.

Archlight

Archlights are great general-purpose units. They’re really strong for clearing out mobs of units at the start of the game but get progressively weaker as the match progresses. They have high damage, and decent health but slow movement speed.
