Key Takeaways:

  • Understanding the mechanics of the Oryx encounter is crucial for success.
  • Plate Guardians and Roaming Guardians play different roles and need to be aware of the mechanics.
  • Killing ogres and protecting Taken Blights are essential during the encounter.
  • Detonating all four Taken Blights grants a longer damage phase on Oryx.

Understanding the Oryx Encounter

The Oryx encounter in Pantheon features a room with four large elevated plates. The team is divided into Plate Guardians and Roaming Guardians. Oryx randomly slams his hand on one of the plates, and a random player becomes Torn Between Worlds. The Torn Guardian and the assigned Guardian for that plate need to jump on top of the plate and look for a glowing white orb above another plate. Platforms appear between the two plates, allowing the Torn Guardian to leapfrog to the orb. The process repeats three times, with ogres spawning and Knights approaching the Taken Blights left behind by the ogres. The team must defend the Taken Blights and detonate all four to maximize the damage phase on Oryx. The encounter concludes with a Final Stand, where two final ogres spawn, and Oryx charges a final attack that must be interrupted by stunning him with the Taken Blights.

Recommended Loadouts and Strategies

For this encounter, Fallout Plays suggests using the Gjallarhorn and Apex Predator combo or Whisper of the Worm. The Shot Caller modifier provides a damage buff for landing precision hits, making primary shots crucial before the damage phase. Tether and debuff abilities such as Tractor Cannon or Divinity can enhance damage output. Warlocks are recommended to use Radiant Well with Lunafaction Boots. Titans can focus on ad clear, while Hunters can provide the debuff with Tether and use Celestial Nighthawk Golden Gun for burst damage. Armor mods should prioritize surge modifiers and time dilation mods.
