As mentioned before, a total of 16 teams will play in the tournament. These slots are divided among the four main regions. Here are the number of slots given to each region:

  • EMEA – 5 Slots
  • Americas – 4 Slots
  • Pacific – 4 Slots
  • China – 3 Slots

EMEA is awarded an extra slot because of Fnatic’s win at Valorant Masters Tokyo. The main reason why China is only given three slots is because they are still a new region to the Valorant esports scene.

Here is a complete of all the confirmed teams that are going to compete in Valorant Champions 2023:

  • Fnatic – EMEA
  • Team Liquid – EMEA
  • FUT Esports – EMEA
  • LOUD – Americas
  • NRG – Americas
  • Evil Geniuses – Americas
  • Paper Rex – Pacific
  • DRX – Pacific
  • T1 – Pacific
  • Bilibili Gaming – China
  • EDward Gaming – China

The remaining five teams are yet to be determined. Each region will host a Last Chance Qualifiers (LCQ) event to determine who will fill the final slots. EMEA’s LCQ will allow two more teams to qualify for Champions, while the rest of the regions only have one slot.

The Format

There hasn’t been official word yet from Riot Games about the format of Valorant Champions 2023. However, it’s likely that Valorant Champions 2023 will follow the traditional format found in most international Valorant events.

This means that the tournament will start with a group stage where the 16 teams will be divided into four groups. From there, the top two teams from each group will advance into the playoffs.

The playoff bracket will likely feature a double-elimination setting where all matches will consist of a best-of-three series. However, the lower bracket final and the grand final will move to a best-of-five series.
