Key Takeaways

  • Baptiste is best on maps which feature high ground and plenty of natural cover. Through map geometry, Baptiste can easily get into position to heal allies while keeping himself protected.
  • Baptiste struggles on maps without high ground as it forces him to constantly jump to output healing, which isn’t as consistent and can also put him in danger.
  • Baptiste counters heroes that rely on burst damage such as Reaper, because his Immortality Field allows him to shut them down when they make their move.
  • Due to his large hitbox and lack of horizontal escape options, Baptiste can struggle against flankers and dive heroes like Sombra and Genji, especially if he can’t escape to high ground. He cannot reliably win duels against dive heroes with his kit. Download the Z League App to find teammates who can help you survive as Baptiste.

Baptiste Quick Tips

  • Baptiste has 200 total health, with no shields or armor.
  • Baptiste is a difficult hero to master due to his reliance on both aim and game sense. His secondary fire is an essential part of his kit that requires hitscan tracking abilities, and to be able to do damage and effectively heal his team, his movement needs to be dynamic across the map depending on where allies and enemies are positioned.
  • Like Ana, climbing in Competitive as Baptiste relies on knowing when to heal versus when to do damage to the enemy team.

Exo Boots (Passive)

Exo Boots allow Baptiste to gain far more vertical movement when he jumps than other heroes. Exo Boots charge up while crouching and take roughly a second to charge fully. A full charge can get Baptiste onto the standard height for most high ground in the game. Along with repositioning, Exo Boots can also be used as a method to strafe more effectively.

Biotic Launcher (Primary and Secondary Fire)

Biotic Launcher’s primary fire shoots three rounds at a time, with each bullet doing 25 damage. Due to recoil, Biotic Launcher is difficult to aim, but if Baptiste can hit every shot, he can deal nearly as much damage as an actual damage (DPS) hero.

Biotic Launcher’s secondary fire shoots a single grenade which heals 70 damage upon direct impact and 50 damage if an ally is within its splash radius. Baptiste’s healing output is significantly increased if he can position himself to where he hits multiple allies per shot. Healing more also frees up time for him to focus on pressuring the enemy team.

Regenerative Burst

Regenerative Burst is a simple ability that instantly heals Baptiste and allies for between 100 and 150 health depending on the health they start at. If they’re below half health, they receive 150 healing, and if they’re above half health, they receive 100 healing. Regenerative Burst is usually best used to help Baptiste survive against backline pressure or to save a low health teammate.

Immortality Field

Immortality Field deploys a field with a small radius. If allies are within the field, they cannot drop below 25% of their total health pool. The field has a small buildable in its center with 150 health that can be destroyed to stop the effects of the ability. Timing Immortality Field to keep allies alive is difficult because it can get destroyed easily, but proper timing and placement can turn the tide of a teamfight, even if the other team has committed to using ultimates.

Amplification Matrix (Ultimate)

Amplification Matrix creates a window that amplifies healing and damage fired through it by 100%. The field effectively doubles the damage output of every ally, which means enemy players will know to stay away from its sightlines. Therefore, Amplification Matrix is best used in situations where multiple allies can quickly take advantage of its buffs and make it have the most impact.
