Smite’s Xbalanque was the first Mayan God to be released back in 2012. Coincidentally, he was released on the same date that the Mayan calendar predicted the world was supposed to end; way back on 12.21.2012. Well, more than a decade later and we’re still here… So much for that nonsense. This is something that Xbalanque won’t let go of, however, as most of his jokes are in reference to this date and how gullible we were.

Xbalanque’s Abilities

Ba’s passive is called Dead of Night. For each 1500 damage Xbalanaque deals to enemy gods he gains a stack, each stack gives him +5 Physical Power, up to a maximum of 6 stacks.

His first ability is Branching Bola. This is a toggle ability that makes Ba’s bolas hit harder as well as split into two when they hey an enemy, the two bolas only do a portion of the damage however.

Poison Darts is his second ability, it allows Ba to shoot out a cone of poisoned darts in front of him. However, any one God can only be hit by 5 darts, with the subsequent darts doing less damage than the first. The darts also poison and slow the enemy for a few seconds.

Rising Jaguar is a charge-type ability that makes Ba charge forward and leap up into the air, shooting out darts in the area around him. This ability also applies the poison effect on enemies.

His ultimate ability is called Darkest of Nights. Ba creates a ring of darkness around his enemies which shrouds them in complete darkness. His attack speed, range, and movement speed are also greatly increased for the duration of this ability.

Ideal Xbalanque Build

Xbalanque Build

With Xbalanque, you’re either going to be going to the jungle or playing as the carry, so, here’s how you should prepare for either situation.

Your starters should be a Death’s Toll and a Morningstar, along with a health and a multi potion. For relics, stick to the Aegis Amulet and Belt of Frenzy. A Wing Shard is also something you should consider if you’re willing to invest the money.

Once you’ve gathered some gold, upgrade your starters into a Death’s Temper and a Transcendence. After you’ve acquired those items, get the following items: Asi, Rage, Griffonwing Earings, and finally a Deathbringer. You might want to alter the Deathbringer further by making it an Envenomed Deathbringer, but that’s up to you. With all these items, you should be dominating the late game.

Tips for Playing With Xbalanque

  • Your main priority for the early to mid-game should be farming, farming, and even more farming. It takes a bit to get Xbalanque going, but after you’ve gotten 3-4 of the items off the list, you should be a wrecking ball
  • Xbalanque is quite mobile, as soon as you’ve wiped your lane consider poking mid-lane and helping out your teammate before the next wave arrives
  • Ba’s ultimate isn’t very remarkable, it is however utilitous; use it for engaging in team fights as well as getting away from unfavorable engagements
