Smite Chang’e Guide: Faerie of the Moon

Welcome to our Smite Chang’e Guide. Chang’e, the Faerie of the Moon; even though Chang’e doesn’t look intimidating at all, trust me, she’s a monster!

Smite’s Chang’e is probably my most hated God. Not because she’s bad, far from it, she’s one of the best Smite Gods. The reason I hate her is because I constantly underestimate her. Chang’e isn’t the easiest God to play, in the hands of an amateur she will perform mediocre at best… but in the hands of a pro, she becomes a real monster.

Key Takeaways for Smite Chang’e Guide

  • Chang’e is one of the best mages in the game
  • Her learning curve is steep, but well worth it
  • She is universal, as such, she can be played as a support, a solo mid, or even something in between.

Chang’e’s Abilities

Smite Chang'e Guide Chang'e Abilities

Starting off with her passive, we have Jade Rabbit. This is probably the most useful passive in the game as it allows Chang’e to purchase items regardless of where she is on the map, her little rabbit friend will simply go fetch them for her. There is however a limit of only 1 item at a time though. And if that feature wasn’t good enough, she also gets a reduction to the backpedaling debuff whenever she casts an ability. Talk about utility.

Her first ability is Crescent Moon Dance. This ability is the typical ranged cone ability you see with other gods. What’s unique about it is that the cone is actually quite big compared to some of the other Gods’ cone abilities.

Moonlit Waltz is her second ability, it allows her to waltz away in whichever direction she pleases; while waltzing away she is immune to any damage and crowd control abilities. If that wasn’t enough, she also restores some mana to herself and any nearby teammates. This is probably the ability that infuriates me the most while playing against Chang’e players.

Her third ability is Moonflower Dance. Moonflower Dance is an area ability that Chang’e can activate to heal and or damage enemies around her. If that wasn’t enough, she also slaps the enemies with a 50% healing reduction. Talk about salting the wounds.

Finally, we come to her ultimate, Waxing Moon. Waxing Moon is a wave-type skill shot that sends out a moonbeam in front of Chang’e, dealing a lot of damage and stunning any enemies that get caught up in the wave. Each subsequent enemy that gets caught in the wave gets stunned for a second longer than the previous god.

Ideal Chang’e Build

Chang'e Build

Chang’e is pretty universal, she can either be played as a support or as a mid, or even a mix of both. This build however is specialized for maximum damage as a mid laner.

Start off by picking up Sands of Time and a Lost Artifact along with your usual assortment of health and mana potions. For relics, pick up Purification Beads as well as a Cloak of Meditation. It’s also helpful to pick up a Vision Shard.

After you’ve secured the bag, upgrade your starters into a Pendulum of Ages and into a Charon’s Coin. Don’t stop there though, after those items, get the obligatory Spear of Magnus, a Perfected Rod of Tahuti, a Spear of Desolation, and finally, a Last Gasp.

With all these items combined, you’ll be a force to be reckoned with for sure, if the enemies survive to tell the tale that is.

Tips for Playing With Chang’E

  • Because of your passive, returning to base isn’t necessary, just use your rabbit for items
  • CC is your worst enemy, learn to time your second ability perfectly
  • Stay on the move as much as possible and don’t overextend, you’re the priority of every hunter and assassin in the enemy team.
