With the launch of the Warzone Season 2 update coming February 15th, players can expect a handful of changes to both the gameplay of Warzone, as well the user interface of Warzone 2.0 (we finally get a play again button!). While we don’t have the full details on all of these changes yet, Activision did give us an overview in their latest community blog. We’re here to break down some of the bigger changes so you’re ready for Season 2!

When it comes to the Warzone meta, the weapons get most of the headlines. Whether something is completely broken (looking at you DMR), or a certain build is frying enemies (see the full Warzone 2.0 Tier list here), your friends, little brother, and JGOD are bound to be talking about it. But one of the most important parts of any good loadout is the perks, and up until now, Warzone 2.0 players have not been able to select their own perks. With Season 2, players will finally get customizable perk packages.

Current Perk Packages

When Warzone 2.0 first released, one thing noticeably different was perks. Instead of being able to select their own perks like in the original Warzone, players could only select from premade packages created by the developers, which for the most part did not pair together the most coveted perks. The thought behind this is that the developers did not want any one perk to become overpowered and become the meta. This was an issue in the original Warzone, especially with perks like Ghost and Tempered, which were big game changers. The current perk packages are:

  • Vanguard: Double Time, Bomb Squad, Resupply, High Alert
  • Commando: Scavenger, Strong Arm, Fast Hands, High Alert
  • Specter: Double Time, Tracker, Spotter, Ghost
  • Scout: Scavenger, Strong Arm, Focus, Ghost
  • Sentinel: Battle Hardened, Bomb Squad, Cold-Blooded, Quickfix
  • Warden: Double Time, Strong Arm, Fast Hands, Quickfix
  • Weapon Specialist: Overkill, Strong Arm, Spotter, Survivor
  • Recon: Double Time, Tracker, Focus, Birdseye

Upcoming Perk Package Changes

With the launch of Season 2, players will be able to once again create custom perk packages for their loadouts. However the pool of perks to select from when creating your custom package will be limited and not include all perks. At this time we do not know which perks will and won’t be available. Additionally, we don’t know if the custom perk packages will have any limitations beyond the reduced pool. The developers did say there is potential for more perks to be added as they monitor how customizable perk packages play out in the upcoming season.
