With the launch of the Warzone Season 2 update coming February 15th, players can expect a handful of changes to both the gameplay of Warzone, as well the user interface of Warzone 2.0 (we finally get a play again button!). While we don’t have the full details on all of these changes yet, Activision did give us an overview in their latest community blog. We’re here to break down some of the bigger changes so you’re ready for Season 2!

One of the most noticeable changes in Warzone 2 from the original Warzone is the inventory management system. In the original Warzone players were limited to the amount of certain items they could hold. For example, players could only hold a max of 240 rounds of AR ammo, or 2 lethal grenades at a time. Additionally, players could only carry two weapons, 1 kill streak, and have one self revive. These max amounts were standard across the game, and were the same for all players (unless a player found a plate bundle, which allowed them to carry additional spare plates).

Warzone 2 introduced backpacks, which gives players more control over their inventory and what they were carrying. When you first drop in, players are equipped with a small backpack.Through looting players can find medium and large backpacks, which allow players to stow more items and even a third gun.

Changes to Backpacks

This has quickly become a point of contention amongst players, as some players are using these extra spots to stash multiple self revives, stims, or kill streaks. This has added to a campy style of play, which Warzone 2 already has a reputation for. With season 2 the medium and large backpacks will be removed from the available loot. This puts all players on an even playing field, while still

Changes to Looting Mechanics

In addition to the changes being made to the backpack system, the overall looting system is also getting a big change. Currently when you kill a player, you need to loot through their backpack to take any items they may have had. There is nothing worse than getting third-partied while you struggle to get ammo in your inventory. Starting with Season 2 loot from finished enemies will now “vomit” onto the ground, similar to loot that comes out of chests or safes. This should allow players to quickly swap guns and pick up ammo to get back into the fight.
