With the launch of the Warzone Season 2 update coming February 15th, players can expect a handful of changes to both the gameplay of Warzone, as well the user interface of Warzone 2.0 (we finally get a play again button!). While we don’t have the full details on all of these changes yet, Activision did give us an overview in their latest community blog. We’re here to break down some of the bigger changes so you’re ready for Season 2!

Besides your weapon, one of the most important items to have going into a gun fight in Warzone is armor plates. Armor plates are an item that players can equip to protect themselves from enemy fire. They will take damage before damage is actually dealt to your operator. In Warzone 1 players could have up to 3 armor plates equipped at a time.

Plate Vests in Warzone 2

Warzone 2 introduced a new wrinkle, where players spawn in with a 2 plate vest instead of three plate vests. Players then had to search for three plate vests as loot either on the ground or in chests. Since sniping a three plated enemy no longer resulted in a down, this created a large advantage for players who found three plate vests. With season 2 all players will start with a three plate vest, and will no longer have to find one through looting. This should put players on even ground when it comes to gun fights.

Movement while Plating in Warzone 2

Another big change that did not go over well with players was movement surrounding plating. In Warzone 1 players could sprint while plating. This allowed them to both get to cover and armor up at the same time. This mechanic was removed from Warzone 2, with a big movement speed slow down being applied while plating. Combining this with the fast TTK in Warzone 2, players who are caught out in the open feel like they have no chance to safely get to cover.

Movement Changes with Season 2

The season 2 update will add a boost to movement speed while plating. Additionally, players will now be able to burst through doors while plating. These two updates should help players feel like they can get to cover if in a gunfight. However it will be interesting to see if they boost the movement speed while plating enough to offset the fast TTK.
