Key Takeaways

  • Mercy can fly with Guardian Angel and her passive movement ability, but Super Jump is a different movement tech.
  • Super Jump allows Mercy to launch into the air at the end of using Guardian Angel. She can Super Jump by crouching during Guardian Angel. The rest of the ability is performed as usual.
  • You can modify your key bindings to make it easier to perform a Super Jump while in the thick of a teamfight.
  • Once you can Super Jump and you start winning games, use the Z League app to find skilled teammates who deserve your healing.

How to Fly as Mercy

Mercy’s Guardian Angel allows her to fly in between allies. To activate the ability, look at an allied player close to you who is within your line of sight. Mercy will dart over in that direction, and your flight will be stopped as you near your allied target.

Mercy’s passive ability also allows her to fly by drifting down slowly instead of falling at full speed. While in the air as Mercy, press the key you have bound for alternate fire and her passive ability will activate. Just like Mercy’s Caduceus Staff and Reinhardt’s Barrier Shield, her passive ability can be toggled, meaning you can use it for a second, then fall normally, then activate it for a second, et cetera.

How to Super Jump as Mercy

If you play Overwatch 2, especially in the Competitive playlist, you may come across Mercy players who seem to be moving in different directions than is possible with Guardian Angel. They’re accomplishing this enhanced movement by taking advantage of special Mercy movement tech called the Super Jump.

The Super Jump is exactly what it sounds like—it allows Mercy to change her momentum quickly upon reaching her target with Guardian Angel. To see what her regular momentum is like, fly towards an ally and press Jump right at the end of her flight. You’ll receive a small boost forwards.

A Super Jump is a much stronger boost that is comparable to a Winston jump. While you’re in Guardian Angel, hold Crouch. A meter will begin to fill up on the right side of your screen. Once the meter reaches the red zone, when you release crouch and Guardian Angel, you’ll launch up into the air. If you release crouch before it reaches the red zone, Mercy will still receive increased movement ability, just not to the degree that she would if the meter were full.

Controls to Make Mercy Super Jump Easier to Do

Some players find it difficult to Super Jump because it’s difficult to aim, hold crouch, and activate Guardian Angel all at once. To make the sequence easier to perform, consider changing the controls of one or more of Mercy’s abilities.

One idea is to change Mercy’s Caduceus Staff so that it toggles on and off instead of requiring active input from you. With this modification to your controls, you can leave the Caduceus Staff activated on an ally while you look (aim) at another and perform the Super Jump sequence.

If you’re not sure what you’re struggling with, one way to figure out how to make it easier to Super Jump is with the Practice Range. Load the Practice Range and try to fly between allied robots on both levels while Super Jumping each time. The moment you find yourself stumbling, consider rebinding that button to an easier-to-reach location on your controller or keyboard.
