Key Takeaways for the Smite Crit Build

  • What the meta is, changes every season, In some seasons, Crit builds are the most optimal, while in other seasons it’s Power builds
  • To be truly effective, you must pair Crit Chance with Attack Speed
  • Crit Builds take a while to come into fruition, as such, they dominate the late game

Smite Crit Builds are always phased off as “glass cannon” builds. While there are some parts of that claim that are true, it’s far from the whole truth. In truth, critical chance is an item stat that is often misunderstood and overlooked, as many players simply prefer to stack Power and Penetration rather than crit chance.

In the end, the problem lies in the meta. More accurately, which stat is the meta currently. Each season brings with it a complete reshuffle of items and their stats, and with that, a complete change to the meta. Still, even if the meta changes, the basic philosophy behind a build stays the same.

The Most Important Crit Items

Rage

Smite Crit Builds Rage

Rage as an item is often overlooked in most builds, it’s actually one of the best offensive items in Smite and a must-have for any Smite crit builds.

Rage gives you +35PP, and +35% Crit Chance. It also has a passive that gives you stacks upon each God kill or assist. Each stack gives you +2,5% Crit chance and + 5 PP. You can have a maximum of 4 permanent stacks.

When it’s fully evolved, rage gives you +55PP and +45% Crit Chance. A crazy stat by all means, which is exactly the reason why you’d want it in the first place.

Deathbringer

Deathbringer

In all honesty, the Deathbringer has a spot in most damage builds. However, it shines the best when used in a crit build.

The Deathbringer gives you +40PP, and +30 Crit Chance. The feature that makes this item so desirable however is the Critical Strike bonus damage increase.

This item can only become better if you upgrade it with a glyph. Although, in most situations, the Envenomed Deathbringer is the preferable one of the two options.

Demon Blade

Demon Blade

The Demon Blade gives crit builds the thing that they are sorely lacking – attack speed.

Demon Blade gives you +25 PP, +15% Attack Speed, and +20% Crit Chance.  Its passive also gives you +8% Physical Penetration and an increase to your Attack Speed by 10% each time you score a crit.

Compared to the other items, this one might not seem that good initially, but once the full build is complete, it becomes apparent how good it actually is.

Bladed Boomerang

Bladed Boomerang Smite Crit Builds

The Bladed Boomerang is a really weird item. Usually, it’s more suited for Assasins, rather than Hunters. But still. It’s an indispensable item if you want to run a crit build, as it has every stat that you need.

Bladed Boomerang gives you +40PP, +20% Attack Speed, and +20% Crit Chance. Its passive also spawns a deployable that increases your movement speed and crit chance further.

This item usually serves as a “cherry on top” to complete your Smite crit builds and round out your stats.

The Perfect Crit Build in Smite

Crit Builds

The perfect Smite crit builds is the following:

  1. Rage
  2. Qin’s Sais
  3. Demon Blade
  4. Deathbringer
  5. Asi
  6. Bladed Boomerang

You need to get Rage as soon as possible to evolve it and release its full potential. After that, Qin’s Sais will not only increase your attack speed but it will also help negate your biggest weakness – enemies with tons of health. Follow that up with a Demon Blade, then a Deathbringer, then an Asi for even more attack speed and lifesteal, and round it out with a Bladed Boomerang.

With this build, you’d have effectively achieved the 2 goals of every crit build. Have a high crit chance and a ton of attack speed.
