Valorant Breeze: Key Takeaways

  • Breeze was released on April 27, 2021
  • It’s located in the Atlantic Ocean.
  • Breeze’s gimmicks are the mechanical door, one-way chute, and openness of the map.

Breeze is often criticized for its insanely open areas, barely any cover, and long-range sight lines. Luckily, it’s designed with a calming aura which is why everyone forgets they hate the map.

I hope you’ve packed your swimsuit and a Vandal because we’re taking a trip to Valorant’s own tropical paradise, Breeze.

Breeze Overview

Breeze was introduced together with the launch of Episode 2, Act 3, on April 27, 2021. It’s found in one of the most mysterious places on earth, the Bermuda Triangle, in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. A perfect spot for a map filled with ruins, mysterious pyramids, and a crashed vessel.

It features a standard two-site layout with a middle area. However, the map is extremely large, filled with little cover and wide open spaces. This makes it a prime area for Operators and Vandal players.

Common Attacking Strategies

Breeze is pretty hit-or-miss when it comes to attacking, even though it’s a slightly attacker-sided map. The thing is, the map is so large you don’t even know where to go. However, splitting between mid and either of the two main entrances should be a safe bet.

Rushes aren’t that great on the map unless you can find yourself on an undermanned site. Play default, use your utility early, and regroup with your team before deciding where to attack will always be the go-to play.

Common Defending Strategies

It’s hard to defend on Breeze because of the little cover you can hide behind, especially on the A site. However, having a Sentinel and an Op player can definitely make things easier.

The usual split is 2-1-2. You’ll have two players on the B site, usually with a Sentinel on site, while the other holds the tunnel. An Operator player will typically play in mid, looking for early picks. Finally, a single player should be holding A site, while the other holds doors or halls. It is also one of the few maps where multiple Operators can be useful, so don’t be afraid to invest in an Op.

Best Agents on Breeze

Here are some of the best Agents that you can use.

Viper

Viper is a no-brainer on Breeze. The openness of the map and the wide area makes it a perfect playground for Viper to lay her Toxic Screen. Her Snakebite is also a great way to delay enemies or for post-plant lineups. Overall, she’s definitely a solid Controller on the map.

Harbor

Like Viper, Harbor excels on Breeze because of his walls. However, Harbor also offers an amazing pushing tool through his Cascade. It makes it way easier to advance through areas because of the moving cover that it provides. Harbor’s High Tide is also reusable, unlike Viper Toxic Screen, making it more important in certain situations.

Killjoy

In a large map like Breeze, you already know that Sentinels are a must. There’s no better Sentinel than Killjoy. Her setup allows her to hold a site alone and wait for reinforcement. However, if she can’t hold a site, she can always use her Lockdown for easy retake executions.

Jett

There’s no question that Breeze is an Operator map. I mean, it’s an Op player’s dream map, for crying out loud. Jett is best used as an aggressive Oper, her Tailwind can easily get her to safety, and her Updraft can help create unique angles. She can also dash into the site on the attacker’s side, making it easier to penetrate through defenses and evade Opers.

Chamber

Chamber received a variety of nerfs, which greatly affected his play rate. However, Breeze is one of the few maps where Chamber still excels because of his great synergy with the Operator. I mean, he literally has an upgraded Operator as an ultimate. What more could you want?
