With new games comes new metas, and with the new map, Al Mazrah one can play in a myriad of ways. But the SMG is now more than ever a weapon specialized at close range. In Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 you have quite a few SMGs to choose from, so here we will try to help with sorting them out.

SMGs are the best option for players that want to play fast and aggressively, pushing fights as SMGs give you high mobility and time to kill (TTK). This is even more true in this version of Warzone as the TTKs are overall faster, making mobile SMGs with high fire rates very deadly.

With this in mind, the criteria we are looking for in SMGs are high mobility, fast ADS speeds, firing rate, and TTK. Based on these criteria, we will try to rank the best SMGs in Warzone 2.0 to use on Al Mazrah.

9/9

MX9 (AUG)

The MX9 has next to no advantage over other SMGs. It has the smallest magazine size, low dmg, and low firing rate. It does not even handle as well as something like the Hurricane. Drop it before someone sees you with it.

8/9

PDSW 528 (P90)

The P90 is similar to the Minibak, as it has a big magazine and decent mid-range precision, but slow ADS speed, and low mobility. It has a fast firing rate, but low damage so you will need that extra magazine size.

7/9

Bas-P

The new weapon unfortunately does not bring anything new to this class. The Bas-P has a low firing rate and damage but okay mobility, range, and recoil control. But still can not compete with most other options at that range.

6/9

Minibak (PP19 Bizon)

The Minibak is in many ways a bad AR/SMG hybrid with a large magazine, which can hit targets at mid-range but has bad TTK compared to other SMGs. It is not that terrible, but it does not excel at anything compared to most weapons outside of having a large magazine.

5/9

FSS Hurricane

The Hurricane, the greatest of the mid-close range versatile SMGs. Low ADS, low TTK though it has very little recoil and still does good damage, so it is a decent weapon, but it will lose to pistols and assault rifles (AR) at mid-range and many of the SMGs at close range. While many like it, it is a jack-of-all-trades master of none SMG. So the main reason to run with it is if you like the feel of its precise aim.

4/9

Vel 46 (MP7)

Vel 46 is similarly a bit of a mix between the Fennec 45 and the Veznev-9k, with a very high firing rate, handling speed, and decent dmg, but not performing as well as either of those in their respective fields outside of reloading very quickly.

3/9

Lachmann Sub (MP5)

Slightly worse TTK than the Fennec, but is a bit more versatile, it’s still very good at close range but more viable at mid-range. It’s a mix between the Fennec and Vesnev but doesn’t outshine them in any of its capabilities. But maybe a better option if you are not as confident in your aim. Since its recoil is lower and has a slightly lower firing rate, making it more forgiving, the MP5 is the everyman option of the meta SMGs.

2/9

Vaznev 9K

The Vaznevs advantages lie in having the highest ADS speed, damage, and the third fastest TTK. The perfect choice for the run-and-gun playstyle, you only need to hit a couple of shots to down someone with the Vaznev, and then you can quickly move. Its high damage and decent range make it more viable at longer ranges than the Fennec. It just does not shred quite as fast.

1/9

Fennec 45

For this purpose, the Fennec is the best choice, with the by far fastest rate of fire and TTK, it gives you the capacity to quickly one-clip people at close range. It’s not an SMG for everyone, due to its high recoil and high firing rate, making it hard to control. In addition, it would most likely be first on the nerf chopping block, so if you pick it up, be ready to have to swap in the future. But if you are confident in your aim, it is the current obvious choice for your SMG.
